Does anyone have any good ratios for Meg's APC?

I just use two basic ones: (Water:APC)

3:1 - Anything on the exterior
10:1 - Anything on the interior

For the most part those have worked well for me

HA! Awesome timing for this thread, I just got a gallon of APC (not APC+) and am **JUST** about to use it.

I'm thinking for cleaning tyres, a ratio of 1:6 would be fine?

If anyone knows a better ratio, then please tell me :props:

Maybe Mike has some sweet chart stored away somewhere and would like to share. I sprayed some full strength on some bug guts and they just melted away. Was just wondering whats too strong for some applications and what is just wasting product.

Anybody know if those ratio will also work with DP Cleanse-All Exterior Cleaner ?
Thanks.

I'm confident I have a text answer to this on MOL as it's come up a lot over time...

10:1 and 4:1 are the dilution levels...

That's correct, here's a little more...

All Purpose Cleaner

Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner is ideal for reconditioning interior surfaces. The superior foaming action gently lifts the dirt away while its unique blend of fabric softeners and optical brighteners enhance the look and feel of carpet, upholstery, vinyl and even leather.

Dilution: Water: Degreaser
Medium Duty Degreasing 10:1
Heavy Duty Degreasing 4:1

Here's something on APC+

All Purpose Cleaner Plus

Meguiar’s® All Purpose Cleaner Plus is a true all surface cleaner ideally suited for today’s fast paced, high volume, detail operations where one simple solution is needed for a wide variety of cleaning needs. It provides mixtures for heavy cleaning of engines and tires, fast interior cleaning, as well as a low foaming ratio for use in carpet and upholstery extraction machines. Leaves carpet clean, smelling pleasant, and the fibers soft with no sticky residue. Safe for clear plastic, glass and leather.

(Low foaming is important if you're using an extractor)

Dilution: Water: Degreaser
Heavy-Duty Strength: 4:1
Medium-Duty, interiors: 10:1
General cleaning, cold water extractors: 20:1
General cleaning, hot water extractors: 64:1

I mix my APC/APC+/Wheel Brightner/Super Degreaser to 7:1, easy forumula, 28oz of water and 4oz of product and gives you 32 oz of product.....

Here is the bottle and how to mix.....

Here is a chart for mixing ratios, I picked 7:1 as it's ease of mixing.....

So far the 7:1 ratio has worked well for me, not too strong and not too weak.....I have a back up bottle ready to go when one runs out.

I fill my bottle to the "fill" ring above the label with water and top with product to just about the first ring on the neck or so. Works well and quick for my 7:1 ratio.

Mike and Nappers thanks for your time and responses. Maybe this will get stickied.

So what do you use this concoction for?

BTW, great tip with the chart for mixing ratios!

APC? APC = All Purpose Cleaner and I use it on just about everything to clean, engine bays, interior, tires, door jambs, household stuff etc....

APC+ is a low foaming forumula for carpet extractors and works great.

LOL, I thought you meant you would add them all to one bottle, making a special-secret brake-dust-busting cleaner ;)

Thats what I get for going online when I have insomnia!

Ahhhhh, I have the same problem, working nights at the ol' lockup!

Nah, haven't experimented with products and probably wont either!

What's the dilution ratio for APC to be spray and wipe?

I wonder what the equivalent APC dilution is in Meg's QID? I am guessing 1:15 or 1:20.

APC on paint can leave a mark! We have used it at 10:1 to help remove stubborn wax residue in crevices, and if it dries ever so slightly, you will have drip marks on the paint that do not clean off, and will require an ever so light polish (AIO on a PC, or even a glaze on the PC will take care of it). So just plan ahead for it ;)

But to strip wax, just use some IPA, or clay, or wax remover... plenty of options.

Do you mean for use to de-wax paint? That is to strip wax?

:)

Hey Mike.

I'm meaning, if I was to use it in things like on the door hinges where old oil and grease build up. As in, I can spray it on, then wipe the crud and oil that builds up off, but, without having to rinse it out (for stuff that Quick Detailer won't touch due to it's oily/ greasy nature).

Is there any dilution that it's ok to do this at, or will it always leave behind surfactants? (which promote resoiling)

Thanks,
Matt.

Try 10:1 but for oily, greasy areas like around the door hinges it will probably take 4:1, at least to make it less work.

I usually use paper towels, old t-shirts, old cotton towels I can cut up into small pieces and then just throw them away afterwards as it's usually not worth washing these small, grease contaminated cloths for future use.

:)
