megs ASD

ASB is one of my favorite tire dressings. I guess you could use it on plastic parts on the engine. I think you might like diluted Hyper dressing for the engine. It might not be as glossy.

The All Season Dressing is a little sticky for the engine bay in my opinion. It's likely to attract a lot of dust. As mentioned above, try the Hyper Dressing, it's water based and a lot less likely to collect dust.

I do not use any silicone dressings under the hood, I would try Hyper Dressing, it works great and you can dilute it

thats what i figured. thanks. i am yet to try it on tires. i usually use CD2 engine detailer. (great product)!!

On a whim, I just tried OptiSeal on my engine, and it worked!

ok for engines? as a dressing..

I prefer to not use this product for underhood applications.

If you're wanting to stay within the Meguiar's products line-up, I'm sure they have some that would have less potential for creating underhood volatility, IMO. In years past I used their Engine Kote.(Sonus has Trim and Motor Kote)

Meg's Hyper Dressing has been said to contain no silicones. Even though I tend to disagree with this premise [Based on: What exactly is poly(dimethylsiloxane?)], I would still rather use this water-based product, instead of Meg's ASD for underhood applications.

The debate between DMS vs. PDMS, and silicone vs. non-silicone products still ensues. Most car care products companies consider these type of ingredients to be proprietary.

I prefer water-based protectant products...where water is either the solvent, carrier, or emulsion....As long as the product has that "milky appearance".

That's why, more and more, I find myself using 303 AP for your stated purpose.

:)
