Meg's "Black Wax"

Although I recently switched to BF TPNS as my AIO, I had religiously been using Megs BW every 12-14 weeks since it's launch - by hand if I had time, but most of the time with a DA, set to 5, with polishing pad, buffed with a microfiber bonnet. Had great results but ultimately, as my car is getting older, I need more correction as opposed to fill for those fine scratches and swirls.

If you can bear the extra cash, I just used BF TPNS + BF Midnight Sun and the results are awesome!View attachment 26241 I'd recommend the switch.

Great looking results. Nice ride!

I'll try to post some results today.

What happens if I can only wait, say, two hours? The top coat just not adhere properly?

It's more about the first product bonding to paint and curing properly than the top coat adhering.

OK, thanks for the feedback top189h. My car is a daily driver Toyota Camry. With that said, I would love to try Pinnacle. But, too expensive for me. I generally stay with Megs products for that reason.

I really like the new Black/White wax from Meguire's.

I applied it using a PC7424XP on a blue finishing pad on speed 3. Let dry to a haze and buff off.

It's my daily driver so I don't have time to let it sit. Is it ok to wax it, let it sit over night, drive it, wash it, and wax it again?

I applied it to my black RAV4 by hand.
For the most part it's a good wax, I never tried the white wax so can't compare.
Anyways I'm into the Collinite 845 wax, for about the same money I get a better shine, easier to apply and remove and last for months.
I tell you I love the 845 a lot, what a great product:)

Back to the "Black wax"

I found it easy to apply but not as easy to remove, it's a little too oily for me, too much buffing to remove it all.

Should be no issues.

Why don't you experiment with your current situation and report back on durablilty, looks, etc?

It would be a good metric for the rest of us. There's no harm in experimenting with wax/sealant combos.

Agree that you can wait but, when you wash, use a really mild soap highly diluted, maybe some with a little wax already in it (Megs Ult wash and wax comes to mind if you prefer their products) and maybe a light wipe with quick detailer before adding the top coat of wax. For bonding you just want to make sure the finish is pristine without lifting too much of the underlying black wax for protection.

Looks great - and you did no additional correction beyond black wax? If so, That's amazing as I never had that much correction.

It was all black wax. I used LC Blue pad (waxing). Speed 1 to spread it around, then speed 3 to work it. 3-4 passes. Turned out amazing.

Is this safe to use on a consistent basis? I don't want to end up going through my clear coat with it.

Might have already said this but I was doing a light coat every 3-4 months. It's pretty safe as it has very little cleaning / abrasives and is mostly just polishing oils to fill the swirls more than correct. It's safe in the combo you used with a finishing pad.

Yea you definitely said that. I missed it. Thanks for posting again. It is very oily (relatively speaking) compared to the paste waxes I use. I really am happy with the results.

Can I use black wax for a goldish colored car? It won't mess up the paint or change it colors, will it?

LOL..Nope, you can use it on any color with no effect what so ever. I used the White Wax on my dark blue car, looked great regardless

Haha stupid question, I know. But it's not my car, it's a friend of the family. The last thing I need is for something to happen with it lol. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I get the results I did on my own car. My car looks soaking wet even though it's dry. Awesome wax.
