Hey guys, I've used UC and NXT 2.0 a bunch of times and really enjoyed it. I have been told, though, on my dark blue colored car to use swirl-x in order to get a better finish than just UC-LSP. Feeling this sounded fair, though content with how the car came out with just UC-LSP, I picked up some swirl-x. Then I thought to myself, hmm.... what product out there would be perfect to add to this comparison.... and I came up with the ultimate in Meg's 3 steppers, 105-205-26.

Just received my new toys in the mail, and if there's enough daylight tonight I'll try them out and run a write-up. I'll also have a review coming on my Finish Kare products that I won in the contest! (if I get a chance to use them out tonight, of course)

So, since you came here for pictures anyways, here are some of my comparison products =p :

I plan to apply UC and 105 by PC-7424 with a yellow 6.5" CCS pad by LC. Then I'll apply Swirl-x and 205 by PC-7424 with a light orange 6.5" CCS pad by LC. I'll apply NXT 2.0 and M26 by hand with a foam applicator.
 
Be interested to see how this turns out. I am doing my White Acura this weekend & hopefully my wife's Blue TBlazer using, almost the same, products. Not using the LC pads though...got a few freebies from Meguiars so, gonna use their pads. Good Luck. Hope it turns out the way you want it to. Maybe I'll do a write up on my 2 cars..?

Do you have some pretty major swirls and rids? I'm thinking that the yellow pad W/105 & UC is very aggressive....as well shouldn't you use a white pad with the 205 and SX to get a better clearer mar free finish? ....just asking I'm a noob!:confused:

Also did you get those Maguire's squeeze bottles from Aotogeek? I haven't seen them here. I'd like to get some if I can find them.

I'm looking at my family's and friend's cars to see what's really scratched up, I doubt my car needs anything more than a very simple polish to be lsp ready.

If nothing is scratched heavily than I'll probably step down from yellow-orange to orange-white.

I got the meg's bottles from AG, yep. They are some of the new bunch of meg's spray and application bottles that AG just started selling a few weeks ago. I figured I should get some to look more professional and to be able to keep my products on my detailer's bag that my 105 and 205 won't fit on.

I appreciate the comments/suggestions! Keep em coming!

So I got home, took a look at all the my family's cars... and none have need of compounding lol. I'm getting in touch with some friends to see if they would like a quick free hood cleaning =p.

EDIT: Found the perfect car for it, just need for it to be back on the road, lol - it's getting a full suspension overhaul at the moment. Should be good to go and in my driveway by Thursday.

Well it took way longer than expected to do the test, but I finally took on a hand-application comparison today.

I'm working for the next few hours but later on I'll be uploading pictures.

The car I was working on had a very poor clear coat, which is why I chose to apply the products by hand rather than by DA. I'll do another comparison at a later date by DA.

In short:

105 and 205 had a very short working time before they became too dry to work with, about half the time of S-X and UC.

105 was a lot thicker than UC, giving uc an advantage in application. It was the opposite with s-x and 205, where 205 was much nicer to get out of the bottle. I preferred greatly the working times of both uc and s-x over 105/205.

26 was a little hard to apply but it came right off when buffing, which was awesome compared to nxt2.0.

End results? Very similar finish when applied by hand.

Left was Consumer, right was Professional. Seems the pro series needed more heat to really get working, while the consumer products were right at home with hand application.
 
nice write up. thank you for doing that. i would like to see what would happen if you used the pc with the pro, as i belive it might work alot better.
 
wow. looks like the uc did a great job for a otc product. wht was the process with the otc stuff?
 
Simply wash with Meg's Gold Class solution, noted that I didn't need to remove wax as there was no beading up what-so-ever, applied UC with a generic MF pad until it started to dry, then removed with a quality microfiber buffing cloth, the same with S-X, then I tossed on a light coat of NXT2.0 and let it sit for 10 minutes or so before removing it.
