Megs DA MF Pads and Wolfgangs

Guys,

This is my first rodeo and tonight I tried out the Megs MF pad with Wolfgang's Total Swirl remover. It was getting dark so I just did a test spot with this combo and it seems to have removed some of the swirl marks but not all.

Question... the product says to buff until the product begins to dry. Its tough to tell, I did feel the pad start to grab a bit and I stopped and wiped off the product. Am I missing something here?

How far do I take the WG TSR? Till it starts to dust? Maybe I had to much product on my pad? I primed the pad with a quarter size drop and worked it toward the edges. Then I put three small drops on the pad surface and went to work.

Maybe this just isn't a good combo? I have both Hydro Tech cutting pads I have never used. Maybe try those??

Last.. I have some light scratches that I can feel with my finger nail. They are not into the base but I don't know if I should try to remove them or just live with them. I will try to post some PICS tomorrow when its lighter.

Woffys swirl remover is not very aggressive. Try Meg's 105 or the new D300. Yes, by all means try the cyan pad with Wolfgang first before spending more money. If you can feel the scratches with your nail it's too deep to remove with a compound. Live with it or bust out the sand paper.

not sure but I think TSR uses the same DAT (diminishing abrasive) technology as Menz. It is better to use these types of polishes with foam and 6-8 passes in order to fully break down the abrasives.

The MF pads were designed to be used with SMAT technology (D300, M105) and less passes since there are alot of super micro abrasives cutting much faster. Usually, less passes are required to get to the same place as foam and DAT polishes.

That doesn't mean you can't use TSR with the Meg's MF pads, but you may not be getting the full potential out of either product (which you already suspect may be the case).

So is M105 a SMAT product? Just in case I do not see results with the foam.

I ditched the MF pads for now due to product issues. I went with the Hydro-tech Cyan pad and the TSR. The lighting issues certainly do not help when trying to see what is being removed. Also getting the pad primed and knowing what it looks like when there is enough polish was a important. I guess like anything else there is a learning curve.

Also cleaning the pad with compressed air was a big help!! I also found that the air helped to cool down the pad between sections.

Clayed using Griots clay
Griots Speed Shine for clay lube
Hydro-tech Cyan pad
XMT pad conditioner
Wolfgang TSR 3.0
Hydro-Tech Orange Pad
Wolfgang Polish
DP Poli-coat as LSP
Hydro-tech Red pad

One other note... learning what was a RID and what was a swirl cleared up with good lighting! Swirls are 100% removed!!:buffing: RIDS... that is something else.

The Meguiar's DA Microfiber system was designed to use the two product developed with it. From what I can tell it seems to work well when used as designed and has a decent following.

Wolfgang and Pinnacle make some great products but their swirl remover is very mild and in my opinion fit in the category of light polishing...

I think a better choice for a substitution would be Meguiar's M105 and M205..

Hmmm, interesting thought.. Why would using a different backing plate impact the performance results when using a product like Wolfgang Swirl remover?

Shouldn't.

I have the LC LC-43-125DA and the Megs W-67DA; and its the same thing. The only difference is that the Megs has a nice shiny black plastic in the middle where the LC has nothing but a flat clear plastic.
