Megs, etc. are not bad products but....

100% pure cotton baby diapers are often difficult to find nowadays. However:
There are microfiber towels that are actually made from cotton-microfibers...using the same manufacturing processes that are used to make microfiber towels from plastic-microfibers.

Which of these two types of microfiber towels would be best to use on vehicles' paint and other components?

Bob

The cotton fibers are spun together and the MF fibers are extruded and split

The cotton fibers are just cotton

The MF is composed two materials polyamide & polyester

On second thought:

You really need to set-down to paper your definition of what constitutes a "micro" fiber; and the different manner in which they are "weighed"---whether they're made from synthetic or natural materials.

An example taken from the song:
"Honeycomb" ~Jimmie Rodgers

"Got a hank o' hair and a piece o' bone
And made a walkin' talkin' Honeycomb"

I was questioning that a cotton microfiber and plastic microfiber are produced using the same manufacturing processes

This introductory statement, will always be met with a sour face and undercuts whatever gem of knowledge you plan sharing in the next sentence

By definition microfiber is many times smaller than a cotton fiber. I also don't understand how cotton can legitimately be called a microfiber.

Cotton fibers = 0.7 - 2.3 denier

Microfiber = less than 0.03 denier

silk strand = 8 denier

human hair = 20 denier

So how is it possible to call cotton a microfiber without ignoring the definition of what a microfiber is.

Not bashing cotton toweling just the idea of calling cotton a microfiber.

By definition:
A "micro" fiber is a fiber that is finer than one (1) denier.

Cotton fibers = 0.7 - 2.3 denier
^^^According to these numbers:^^^

Look like cotton fibers actually can be "micro" fibers.

It is my understanding that the fibers in a quality microfiber are split, making them even thinner.

No doubt this is true, I won't debate that.

What "might" be debatable, notice I say "might", is the softness of the fibers?

Again, maybe in Microfiber's infancy there could be a clear cut winner, but at current day I myself am not so sure, the battle of softness of synthetics versus natural 100% Cotton?

Oh here some fun reading. So he has a black 17 cougar that has never been waxed Claude or polished with perfect paint

Mustang Forums for All Ford Mustangs
I lol'd as I read that. '97 Black Cougar, original paint, no wax, no polish, but no sun shots...hmmmm. Hide much??

Also claims ".....the oems state that the life of an oem paint is 7 years when care for correctly." (sic)

I'll just leave this here:

It's the latest pic of my 6 year old G8 GT's finish... in the sun. I have nothing to hide in the shade.

I'm going to enjoy the last year or so of that Sport Red Metallic paint. /sarc
