meg's MF pads are crap?!

I'm a huge fan of CG Black optic pads. I like them better then theier optical MF pads. Thicker MF and stronger foam. They mold to the contours really well. Never had a problem with them. They feel like foam except the ride smoother across the paint.

I was reading about these on the cg site. I like that they are thicker. They are listed at 10.99 right now. Maybe I'll give them a shot and see how they compare to the meg's pads.

OP are u talking about newly "made in usa pads"?
If yes i have to agree with you, edges are super sharp on them....

I've tried

Megs: Same issues, awesome cut, but crappy delamination after only a few uses

LC MF: Crappy cut but thicker than the megs and lasts longer, nice finish

Surbuff MF: Cuts like hell, Lasts a good amount of time, but doesn't finish well, needs a follow up polish.

Winner = Surbuff!

Ok, i definitely spoke too soon on these pads. Ive used them now on at least 10 details. Wow do they work well. I honestly havent had a problem with the edge catching anything. If care is taken to keep them from overheating and they are frequently cleaned with a brush and compressed air, they hold up well.

I was able to repair the delaminated edges on one of the pads with gorilla glue and it is holding up well.

Man im hooked on these things now. They are excellent for an aio with d151 or even a one step with 205. Really gives the 205the a little extra bite and still finishes relatively well for a one step.

105 is awesome with these pads. Cant wait to try 101.

I must also say that they actual fibers hold up extremely well.

Ive found that cleaning with pure water and brush and compressed air immediately after use is the key to extending the life of these pads.

:wow: You really took a turnaround there Jeremy. :poke: Tried to tell ya'....

So... no more of this :bash: to the Megs pads huh? ;)

And now I'll just....:surrender:

Yeah...i feel stupid now. I must  to the incredible cutting ability of these things.

Still think these things are a little fragile but i guess i can live with that. Maybe they will eventually improve the glue or something

I don't really think they are that terribly fragile all things considered. Just keeping the heat out and they'll work MUCH longer, and more times than foam. Blow them out good and put um' in your bin and they are good to start tomorrow with (without washing). Whereas foam tends to collapse in the middle when it heats up and I find myself changing foam much more often, using at least 4 and prefer 5~6 per vehicle. Not only that, but try pulling a foam pad out of the bin tomorrow that you did half a car with today without washing it tonight! Yikes!

I've got to admit I was most surprised though at how well the finishing pad (and wax) turned out. What with how well they cut I used them several times without even TRYING the finishing pad. Just didn't trust it, and didn't want to have to go back and do it again with foam. But on hard paint they are a Godsend! Sure.... it's a little more work than you're typical AIO, to go back over it again with a buffer, but it's still less than a normal 2 step correction and darned near the same results, (if not equal or better on some jobs).

The Meg's MF pads are designed as part of a complete correction "system", meaning they perform best when backing plate, arm speed, type of polisher, polisher speed, and polishes are as recommended by Meg's.

Any deviation from that...you're on your own and any negative results are frankly....null and void.
