What is the general consensus on the Megs microfiber towels? Are they paint safe? I did some searches and didn't find any reviews or comments about them.

Why wouldnt they be paint safe? Its Meguiar's not Walmart/AutoZone.

Pretty sure a company like Meguiars wouldnt design a cheap microfiber that marrs your paint.

Anyhow, the Supreme Shines are good, their edgeless ultimate wipe is even better. They are the best IMO for polish removal. You can use them for wax/sealant removal as well, but personally I prefer Cobras for wax removal & QD/Spray Wax removal.

This is my towel of choice for polish/wax removal. I thought that the thicker the towel, the better but in my experience, the thinner towel works best for removing polish/wax.

It's good quality. I can't complain.

It's paint safe as long as you don't press down extremely hard, but that's the case with most all MFs

I was asking because I see them here and other places but I don't see any quality information like are they 70/30 or 80/20, gms, etc. I also found them to be cheaper than others especially by the case. I believe Autogeek had them by the case years ago.

They will say on the tags. I believe they are 80/20, maybe Marc can confirm or correct me on this.

Everyone I have seen at the local stores does not have a tag. Doesn't say on the package either.

I have a few. By far my favorite MF. I also can pick them up locally so they are the best I can get without ordering online.

I envy you guys that can pick them up locally. Like I said im not sure about the percentage of polyester, but what I do know is that they are softer than cheap MF towels, and wont marr even the softest of paints if used properly like stated above.

Thank you CM8. I pick them up at Car Quest or Body and Paint Supply shops.

Nice! You will like them for sure, especially for polish removal. For QD, Spray Waxes, or Rinseless washes I recommend a heavier GSM towel like the Cobras.

Car Quest huh? Ill have to swing in there. I have one of those local too. The store I get them at is AutoValue. They also have the Meg's Detailer Line in gallons.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Turns out the new one I bought had a tag. They are 80/20 with 100 poly edge stitching. Can't find the gsm on them though.

I would guess mid to high 200s

So how can they be paint safe? The specs are as good as the Walmart 100 for $10 ones.

GSM by itself doesn't determine paint safe or not, it's just the density. The Megs towel has a softer fiber then say a walmart brand towel. I bought my Megs towels quite a long time ago so they may be different from yours also.

I have a ton. Ive noticed no scratching or marring. I also have the ultimate wipes. The uw's are awesome. I used one to remove some pinnacle liquid sovereign. It was a breeze. I generally wipe pretty lightly though.

Thanks guys. I feel at ease now. The reason I am asking is that I can get a case at a great price.

Anything that has Meguiar's stamped on it, you SHOULD feel at ease. That goes the same for any reputable detail brand. Now if it was some no name brand, then I can see reason for concern. Im pretty sure the guys who use: Mothers towels, meguiars, cobras, pakshaks, adams & chemical guys towels can all assure you that their towels are "paint safe". OTC no name brands....eh not so much.

I don't know the composition of the supreme shine microfiber towels.. There are no tags on them.
