I have been reading online and looking for something to really bring out the metallic in my blue paint. I hesitate to pay $100 for wax and then hate it. So while I have been trying to make up my mind- today I clay barred my car, used dura gloss sealant, 2 coats of Megs ultimate paste wax and 2 coats of liquid glass. I must say it really brings out the metalllic. The other products I have tried make the car shiny- but it looks dark navy blue with no metallic in the paint. Any recommendations for the next time around?

If you don't care about durability, use Chemical Guys Blacklight and V07 spray sealant.

Otherwise, anything with heavy oils should make you happy. Megs ultimate liquid wax, poor boys black hole with natty blue on top, etc.

I tried Megs gold carnuba wax- it was certainly shiny.... But everything stuck to the car. I want a harder finish. I drove through a rural area that is constantly under construction everyvday. I was hoping to find something to help cut down on all the rock pecks to the paint.

I was looking at dodo juice, Wolfgang or souveran. I am also intrigued by the fire over ice combo... But will those kill the metallic.

next time put the liquid glass on first, you wont need nothing else

Good looking blue color.

These are all sealants so they are all basically doing the same thing. Next time just use one of those three. Ultimate paste will darken the paint a little.

I do not like the look of liquid glass without something under it. Otherwise, it amplifies all the flaws. Using the paste wax under it hides a lot of the imperfections. At least that was what happened on my husbands bmw. It looks great, but every swirl is amplified

The key to bringing out the metallic (aka: making metallic pop)...is getting the paint as smooth, clean, and clear as possible.

•You've already done some cleaning/decontaminating/smoothing:
-You clay-barred today

•Now you need to polish out all of those swirls.
-This will: Clean & smooth (some more); create paint-clarity

•Now your vehicle's metallic flakes will surely be "popping"...
even before any LSP/Sealant application!!

Speaking of LSPs:
I agree with using just one Sealant at a time. No need to
try to layer a bunch of Sealants over top of one another.

•For a change-up of LSP-products...Try:
-Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant; or:
-Finish Kare 1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax (really a Sealant).

First off, what Bob recommends, especially about polishing the paint. I 100% agree with his recommendation of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, my reliable go to.

You mention wanting to cut down on the rock pecks to the paint. The only thing that will do that for you is paint protection film (PPF). For that I recommend XPEL Ultimate. You can go to the XPEL website to find a local installer. You can order the pre-cut film kits for DIY but I don't recommend that. The cost of having a professional installer do the job is usually the same or just a few $$$ more than the cost of the kit. If cost is a concern, a less expensive PPF option is 3M. I don't have any experience with that film so I can't comment on it.

There is nothing you can use to prevent rock chips except a clear bra.

the more coats of Liquid G. will deter the rock chips.
