I have used the Brown Royal for last 5 years and have been very happy with it.
I usually use it to maintain my DD painted wheels but have used it twice on some really nasty wheels and plastic hucaps.

These wheels had probably never been cleaned since 2001.
The barrels were the worst but the faces were not as bad but clear coat failure everywhere.

2 applications of BR, let dwell 1-2 minutes and agitated with wheel brushes and hosed off.
Could have used IronX on the rust, but was going to sand anyway so didn't bother (plus it was below zero in the garage and not sure how long the water would spray).
Not perfect but at least good enough to take indoors and begin to prep for Plasti-Dip painting I planned on doing.
The second test was a set of Hubcaps off my daughter's 2007 Yaris that I did this month.
Sorry no pictures, as was doing a re-paint on the faces only, and the brake dust was on the backs.
Again, the hubcaps had probably never been cleaned in 9 years and the fronts were especially dirty.
2 applications of BR, let dwell 1-2 minutes and agitated with lug nut brush and hosed off.
Later indoors (yes it was freezing weather again) I did one more application on the fronts only and rinsed in the sink (warm water finally).
Brown Royal removed all of the brake dust and road crap without much work at all.
I did the faces as well as a pre-clean for the painting prep as well.

I also used the Meg's Wheel Brightner on the DD summer and winter wheels, but it was an acid and did not work any better than the Brown Royal.
The winter wheels ended up being polished eventually and didn't feel comfortable using acid on non-coated Aluminum Alloy
I used up the bottle and did not replace it.
Not really on topic, but shot after wet sanding clear coat with 1500 grit and polishing with Nano iBrid Polisher 1" rotary Blue and Yellow polishes.
