Megs Wheel Brightner... OMG!

Just picked up a gallon of this last week and today it saw it's first victim!
I religiously take care of my girls car with the exception of the inside barrels of the rims... I tried it once and it just didn't jive so I said forget it ... Well today I reached for the WB with foaming nozzle at 2:1, pulled out the Tampico brush spray spray scrub scrub hit the face of the wheel and I have never been so amazed with a wheel cleaner! It literally took of years of red brake dust on the drums with a quick half butt effort! Mind you I wasn't expecting this to work so well!!!! And onthe faces of the clearly coated rims I kid you not the really do look so much brighter!
If you haven't tried WB you definitely should.
 
WB is my secret weapon. I love it for supremely dirty wheels.

One bit of advice though, if you don't want the spray nozzle to be ruined, you need to rinse it out with plain water after you're done using it. WB will eat the seals and trigger mechanism and destroy it.
 
Great stuff. I always wear an respirator using WB, don't want to breathe in that acid.
 
is it true that the wheel brightener will eat away the finish on the wheels if used to often? I was reading it on one of the reviews,

If used IMPROPERLY too often, sure. It can be diluted down by quite a bit, making it safer to use if you're not planning on being careful with it.

Generally speaking WB is my "last resort" wheel cleaner, and only comes out if a more gentle solution doesn't get the job done.
 
I have been enjoying WB for a few years. It's the big gun in my arsenal. Another interesting product is Flash Brown Royal. It is also a very strong wheel cleaner that you can also use on tires. It is a strong alkaline cleaner whereas the WB is acid based. Both need respect when using.
 
It is awesome stuff, I can never get over how it actually brightens the wheel paint.

As others have said, be careful with it and take care.
 
When all else fails Meguiar's Wheel Brightener usually get the job done. For tough jobs this is why I use it, no sense in trying something else then have to go to "it" when the others fail.

Good call Bobby, my plan of attack is always start off least aggresive and then work my way up, MWB is my last resort on tough brake dust.......it has never failed !!!!! A must have product.
 
You guys think 2:1 was rather strong?
Thinking of cArrying a DD solution knocked down (what do y'all recommend)
then a (haven't cleaned my runs in a year mIx)

I always go for the recommended 4:1 dilution and it cleans really well never felt the need to go for a stronger dilution ratio.
 
Can it be diluted to not be that aggresive? Because for the price and the reviews you guys have, im going to add it to my cart as i type. But can i add more water to make it a little less aggressive? Or what wheel cleaning product would be goos that is NOT that aggresive?

I have done that several times as well and it still worked out great, it really depends on how dirty your wheels are.
 
I had a set of BADLY neglected Bimmer wheels I was working on this past week, and I have been wondering if this stuff would have helped. There were some deposits that wouldn't come off with anything less than claying. I used APC+, OPC, Sonax FE, and PBW Spray and Rinse. Out of those - I know the closest thing to the WB is the Poorboys S+R, but is it AS strong?

I always felt like with the PB in my arsenal I didn't have much of a need for the Meg's - but is that the case? Someone that has used both please chime in.

I use APC+ at 4:1 - but mind you, it is a much less powerful cleaner than the Wheel Brightener.

I have diluted it based on the type of wheel finish I'm working with. If I have a really neglected wheel I'll spray it directly on it without rinsing. Otherwise I'll rinse the wheel off first since I tend to keep my products mixed a little on the strong side. I'm pretty sure the reason you need to be careful is since this cleaner is acidic and I've seen acidic wheel cleaners "etch" into the wheel. Even if you dilute it, its still probably going to be a little on the acidic side of the scale. On really delicate wheels or wheels that arent bad I would probably use a different cleaner if you've got one on hand.

Do you mind telling me what dilution ratio you used it at ?

what would be a another good wheel cleaner that is not that acidic?
