Last weekend I used Meguiars M105 for the first time. I really liked the product but i was having trouble with drying too fast and lots of dusting. What over products are equal or almost equal to M105. I want to try something different till i get more comfortable with M105. Also any tips of using M105? I used it on a Surbuf and Orange pad

Thanks. Any other brands besides Meguairs. What about Menzerna?

I had same problem with m105. What helped was priming the pad and using little product, cleaning on the fly (i cleaned after every section pass), and every now and then spritz the pad once with a fine mist of distilled water.

A lot less dusting although it still dusted a little when i hit tape. However, very little residue left over that needed to be buffed off.

Menzerna does have more working time. SIP is pretty aggressive but breaks down over its use, might be an option.

Menzerna Power Gloss, M95(meant for rotary and hand use), Ultimate Compound,

I was leaning towards SIP to try it out

What are you trying to do? Depending on what you are trying to correct, Megs UC is a pleasure to work with.

Drying too fast is usually beacuse your using too much product. I found that out the hard way. I've found m105 to be temp sensitive, so make sure your not using it on a hot pannel or in the sun (no brainier I know).

Ult Comp is a little less aggressive and is a lot easier to work with so I've read. I finally figured out how to use M105, espec after reading Richy article, that its all I use now.

If M105 is your goal, I would stick to the other Megs products. They are SMAT. The Menz products are great, but, are DAT products. They behave a little differently.

I would recommend Megs Ultimate Compound. It is basically M105 for the consumer. It is fairly easy to work with and fairly aggressive. I love it.

I just want to try something new to add to my arsenal.I will give Ultimate compound a try.

Sorry I'm still a noob so what's SMAT and DAT?

SMAT is Super Micro Abrasive Technology. The abrasives in the product stay the same size so the amount of cut stays the same throughout the buffing cycle.

DAT is Diminishing Abrasive Technology. The abrasives in the product will break down and get smaller and less aggressive as you work the product longer.

What is the Richy article? about how much product do you use on 5.5' pad?

Thanks for the explanation. It looks like Ultimate Compound it is

Sometimes on a warm day I'll add a drop of Ultimate Compound to the M105 on the pad and find that it extends the working time as well, but maintains a majority of the cut that M105 has.

Can i follow up with a M205 on a white pad after using UC?

UC for sure, if you are not fine with 105.

remember guys some of the suggestions are DAT compounds meaning diminishing abrasive technology so you will have to work the product longer to get a good finish, m105 is SMAT which means super micro abrasive technology and dont need to break down, you tell the polish when its done working.m105 dusts a good bit but alot of compounds dust due to abrasive particle size, and m105 sure dont stay wet for long but it cuts fast enough so it dont matter so much, if its drying too fast do a mist of water on the pad and continue polishing. i would try ultimate compound as well, its less agressive but its so easy to work with and the defects it removes is crazy being that its a consumer product...i use it on certain paint systems for one steps, and use it for multiple step correction. good product.
