Meguiars #26 yellow tech wax

So Mike, would you say that today's #26 is more durable?

I don't usually comment on the durability of any wax because there are so many variables that affect how long a wax or paint sealant will last on a car.

My guess is any chemist that has a passion for what they do just like you and I, do their very best when they do their job.

Besides that, instead of waiting till you think all the wax protection has worn off practice Preventative Maintenance, that is apply a fresh coat of wax long before you think all the wax has worn off. Not only will you be doing yourself and your paint a favor...

Nothing looks as good as a fresh coat of wax

Kind of like how we all change our oil before the oil no longer can lubricate and protect the bearings so the engine doesn't prematurely wear out, change or apply a coat of wax often enough to match the kind of wear-n-tear you put your car through.

M26 is the only wax that will increase the D.O.I. of a previously polished surface.

The context of that statement was after using #7 Show Car Glaze on black paint, most waxes would decrease D.O.I. while M26 would actually increase D.O.I.

D.O.I. = Distinction of Image

The ability of a surface to reflect an image clearly. A mirror offers 100% D.O.I.

:)

Mike, that's a very interesting statement.
Every spring, when my El Camino emerged from hibernation, it would get a rubdown with Meguiar's #3, followed by #7. After all the effort spent, it would irritate me when I'd be applying my LSP and be diminishing the reflective quality I worked so hard to attain, rather than adding to it. I went thru a bunch of OTC products from Meguiar's, Mothers and more without satisfaction. Finally, I settled on NXT paste-OK but not the "glow" that I wanted.
Actually, that's one of the reasons I googled "detailing forums" and wound up here and at MOL -trying to find something that would shine better than M07. M26 streaked too badly on my dark SS paint to be a consideration. Maybe it was process rather than product and it deserves another try.

After #7 give the paint a final wipe as described here using a very soft, plush microfiber towel folded 4-ways...

The Final Wipe – Tips for creating a streak-free, show car finish

Then machine or hand apply a very thin coat of M26 and let it dry. M26 is a drying wax, not a WOWO. Last time I used it, seemed to dry very slowly but a thin coat should dry in around 20 to 30 minutes.

Then carefully wipe it off...

Just like a lot of products, thin is in...

Also remember, streaks are just un-removed product, back to the final wipe or use a spray detail ever so lightly for the final wipe.

I usually follow this in that I wax my car after evey other wash or so. If I have time, I do it after every wash, depending on how long it has been. So I say I apply a coat of wax once to twice a month. Three times at the most. If I see it's lacking beading, or shine or anything like that, I just make a note to throw a fresh coat on after my next wash.

Well I got Meg's ultimate paste wax.. Was a 5dollar off deal at AZ and I knew I could also use it on my black truck.. Should last a good while since the focus is garaged parked. I'll be washing it, using megs cleaner wax, then top it with ultimate wax. Hope it looks good :)

I think ppl were having streaking issues with the paste.....maybe it was the liquad....i cant remember. Might wanna pay attention to that. Have fun :)

Just finished putting it down. No streaking issues.. It was the liquid that people were. Complaining about.

Got ya! How did you like the wax?

Loved it!! The smell and ease of use is amazing. Going to see how long it lasts.. Made a better shine but, then again it's a white car so I can't tell a huge difference as a dark colored car would have.

Just got to CA.. Pulled in a gas station and cleaned up the bugs with Meg's wash In a bottle. The beading with just the spray was amazing! Plus there wasn't nearly as many bugs as there was before the wax. I'm lovin it so far :)
