The title says it all.

Meguiars APC+ or Optimum Power Clean?

I've not tried Optimum Power Clean, but I'm very happy with APC+. What is going to be your main use for it?

Not having used the Optimum Power Clean, I can't compare the two directly, but.....
The Meguiar's seems to be much less money.
Meguiar's dilutes 4:1 or 10:1
Power Clean dilutes 3:1 or is used full strength.
APC+ - $16 a gallon
Power Clean - $36 a gallon
Cost per use has Meg's way out in front, but if the results are that much better with the Power Clean, the cost becomes secondary.

I do use a lot of Meguiar's APC and really like it.
It seems to do everything I need from an APC at a dilution of 10:1.
It also works very good on carpet and carpet mats at that dilution.
I don't use it for engines, tires or wheel wells since I prefer other products for those jobs.

Power Clean has the same dilution ratios (as tested by users not as labeled)

Its going to replace APC (without the +)

I use APC for light cleaning, wheels, door jambs, and interiors.

I use APC+ for engines, tires, wheel wells, and pre spotting carpets.

Both work great and are very cost effective IMO. ;)

I use Super Degreaser for where you use APC+, minus the carpet where I use APC 4:1

yep. i find that 10:1 dilution of optimum power clean is useful for many things, including initial front bumper cover/ lower rocker treatment, and you can go to 20:1 for interior work.

Right on. :)

The APC+ is low foaming which is why is use that on my carpets vs. the APC. Otherwise it would mess up my LGM. ;)

I've used a LOT of different degreasers over the years (Car Brite, Auto Magic, Zep, Detail King, 3M and Meguiars. They all seem to work pretty well IMO, and it really comes down to price for me. If you do decide to go with Optimum be sure and let us know what you think of it vs. the Meguiars.

I use a vapor steamer for cleaning. I'll probably try the OPC next time...if I ever run out of APC :)

I really like the OPC but like you guys mentioned, it comes down to price. I buy a non-caustic APC by Scott's off a detailing supplier that services the dealer's and shops in my area (5 gallon/$48). It is very comparable to Meg's APC+. The PowerClean is much more versatile in that it doesn't seem to dry out paint and plastics much. I even use it safely as a clay lube. My opinion is that OPC is the better product, but I can't justify it as my only APC.

Don't use APC on carpets.....any apc. It's not made for that and can cause the carpets to get dirty faster because it needs to be thoroughly and completely rinsed out.

Use a dedicated product designed specifically for carpets and fabrics.

That's honestly the first time I've ever heard that. I treat the dirty spots with APC+ and then follow back over with an extractor.

Why would the manufacturer suggest use on carpet if it wasn't safe?

APC+
This all surface cleaner is ideally suited for today's fast paced, high volume, detail operations where one simple solution is needed for a variety of cleaning needs. It provides mixtures for heavy cleaning of engines and tires, fast interior cleaning, as well as low foam ratio for use in carpet and upholstery extraction machines. Leaves carpet clean, smelling pleasant, and the fibers soft with no sticky residue. Safe for clear plastic, glass and leather.

i think what hes trying to say is that a dedicated carpet cleaner performs better long term. correct me if im wrong :D

The problem is APC can mean almost anything. There is no set formulation. There are mild, aggressive, green and everything in between. I would assume some APC formulas are intended for carpets without rinsing.

I have used some "carpet products" but they seem to be able the same as an APC -- spray on, wipe off and safe on vinyl too (sound familiar). From what I have read, it really depends on what surfactants they use (ionic and non-ionic). Some are sticky and need to be rinsed or they will attract dirt. Others are very clean and do not need to be rinsed.
