So does the PC XP have a 5/16 inch diamater shaft? it says that the W68 can be used with all dual action polishers with a 5/16 inch diamater shaft.

Da use a 5/16th thread and rotarys use a 5/8th thread .

The W68 is for a rotary the W68DA is the one you want for a DA

I'm getting ready to go use the W68DA Backing Plate right now to apply M21 to the Elky. I'm using the Meguiar's G110v2 but I could just as easily swap the backing plate onto the PC 7424XP or the Griot's Garage ROP
