Meguiars D151

I will be purchasing d151 very soon 👍 I usually use d300 and d301 as a quick 2 step but I need to cut down on my time, quick question.. Is the white ccs pad a polishing pad?

I saw some vids on youtube of some guys getting pretty decent correction of light swirl marks using D151 and Megs MF cutting pads.

On my 1 step detail jobs, I plan on using D151 what ever pad combo the job calls for. Finally a final spray wipe with Meguiars synthetic express spray wax.

I think this will be a good combination.

I am starting to use everything Meguiars. Minus some things.

Does it have any fillers in it? I can't see the point in an AIO unless it has fillers to mask imperfections. AG super resin polish is excellent that way. So is Scholl Concepts A15.

I'm like 90% sure it doesn't. What it does instead of fill is it corrects, and rather quickly I might add. This product will impress you. It impressed me and the only product to impress me so far other then d151 is collinite 845

Well I was going to do a side by side of xmt 360 and d152 but the d151 shipment got delayed. I'll do a test on my wife's car next week.

It's an AIO - of course it will have some filling capabilities. All waxes will naturally fill to some extent.

With that said, D151 is a heavy cut AIO and is often unnecessary for most of the applications that its probably used for.

Try something lighter, such as Optimum GPS or HD Speed.

If you have a Bigfoot DA, try M205 on a MF finishing disc. You will be surprised by the amount of cut that you can get.

Just bought a gallon of 151 for $30.00 from a vendor in Carlisle on Saturday. With all the raves, I decided I would try it on my black 2003 Viper, which paint needs some work. I will be doing it by hand, and am first time user. Will post results after I get a chance to try it.

I use D151 on all my one step details. As others have said it has good cut and nice gloss. So far I only use a white LC pad. I dont notice any marring left behind. Although wax is included I still top with M21 or NXT 2.0. Most of my customers prefer longevity over carnauba.

If you are going to wax it anyway wouldn't you get a better result just using some fg400 or pf2500 and then Waxing? Isn't the point of the all in one to remove a step on a basic detail?

In essence he will be removing a step with D151. Instead of Comp/Polish and wax (3 steps), he will be doing 2 steps polish and wax. Saving a step.

Of course you get more results from more steps, but will it be worth it to him? You could also throw a jeweling step in there for even better results, but more time spent on the vehicle.

Guys
So far my customers dont seem interested in the ultimate car show finish on a DD. Even though D151 has a wax, I have a feeling its short lived. So I go the extra mile for customers and give them added protection.

There's a couple of reasons why it's advantageous to use an AIO in certain situations...even if you are using a separate LSP.

1) Thin paint. There are lots of cars out there with thin paint. An AIO will have less cut, and it is perfect for "glossing up" thin paint and providing a minimal amount of defect removal. If you have a client who comes in for a regular detail several times a year, you really shouldn't be doing a light to medium polish (I.e. m205, hyper polish) at that frequency.

2) work time. You can generally get away with doing a couple quick passes with an AIO. Not so much with a dedicated polish -- it needs a longer work time to properly break down -- even the SMAT ones.

3) wipe-off. In unfavorable weather conditions (or on troublesome paints), AIO products generally wipe-off very easily.

Most customers are not, even if they drive an expensive luxury car.

All the AIO's I have used (yet to use 151 as I would never use a gallon in my life at this point) have minimal lasting protection. I always add an addition wax.

Time is money, and customer satisfaction is (or should be) the number one business priority.

I see what you are saying, but as the other poster pointed out, if you are going to use the 151 as a base, why not just use FG400 on a lighter cut pad and then coat it with wax or sealant? The purpose of an AIO is for it to be AIO.

I am also not saying this to take away from your comment, if you feel like you want to add on top for your customers, and they are happy and you are making a profit, then by all means, do so.

HUMP

P.S. I bought a gallon months back and only used it twice, once on a FJ Cruiser white top and then again on the boat in the areas I had to get to by hand.

i like d151 since it does offer a good amount of cut. I dont use it for the protection ability. I like the fact that it doesnt dust that much and easy to wipe off. I always follow up with either a wax or sealant. I use this mainly to add gloss/clarity and remove some defects.
