Used these pads for the first full buffing of my car without issue. A few weeks later I wanted to go over a couple spots on the car again.

As you can see below, the pads fell apart. The backing came completely off of one so it can no longer be attached to my backing plate. The backing on the other disc is coming off in some spots as well.

I have been using Meguiar's products without issue for many many years. Love their stuff.

I emailed them 1.5 weeks ago about this & have not heard from them.

I had same thing happen mine. You can call Meguiar and they will send replacement for free.

I have found Meguiar's to be a very good company. I would call them at their 800 number...

This is a very common issue - especially with the earlier run of these pads, but it can still happen with the 'improved' ones as well.

There is special care that needs to be taken when working with MF pads.

You cannot use them panel after panel like you do with foam pads for several reasons. MF pads are much more sensitive to heat and product saturation.

A method I use (and so do many others) is to rotate between 2-3 pads while you are working around a car. This method works something like this: use a pad to compound a door (making sure you clean the mad w/ compressed air or a pad cleaning brush after each SECTION), use another pad when you move on to the next door while you place the 1st pad somewhere to cool down and dry (again, same cleaning habits apply with this 2nd pad), then when you move on to the next panel grab the 1st pad again and let the 2nd pad cool down and dry.

This method of changing pads each panel has helped extend the life of my pads exponentially! I have not had a pad fail on me since following this method.

Meguiar's is aware of this issue though, and you should get a replacement.

Hope that helps.

Two most important things when working with MF pads.
1.Keep them cool! I use a backing plate with holes helps a lot.
2.Keeping them clean.

Just called them & I have to pay to send them in to them. They SHOULD send a call tag...

Had the same problem. Contacted Meguairs they replaced them right away

Weird, I never had to send mine in... I was just given a replacement. I did not purchase them from Meguiar's though, so I contacted the store that I bought them from and was given replacements by them and they contacted Meguiar's to report the issue.

Interesting...never even thought to contact Meg's. I just threw them in the trash bin after they were unusable.

What's the difference between the cut pads and finish pads?? I have the finish pads but I use them to cut..??

Guess they should have consulted with 3M's adhesives department first, since 3M now owns them

I use this method with the pads and they will last me about 10-12 cars. i really beat them up when i use them for headlights. but they work like a champ.

They also have a baking plate that has holes in it that will cool it down quite a bit, but i have yet to use it

I'd call them back and let them know other customers, with the same issue, have received replacements without any hassle. Provide pics.

Just call Meguiars.... I called the 1800 number and spoke with a gentlemen and he said email him some pictures and he'll send them right out tomorrow. Best customer service I have ever received.
