Meguiar's DUB products

Found some today at advance... bought the tire shine and wheel cleaner for myself. Used the tire shine and it looks amazing (durabilty still to be determined). Just how I like super wet look.

Bought another set too give away as a prize at my car club and also the spray wax to give away. The tire shine smells awesome... I could eat it

This is smart on Meg's part, people will buy it because it says DUB, so good for them.

Call me "Old School" but what exactly does "Dub" mean? I consider myself pretty educated but this one has me stumped. I did read about Dub Music but I'm not sure how that applies to cleaning cars.

There are also refrences to Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding but that's even further off base. Hmmm????

Not sure how Meguiar's named it or why.

But " DUB " is a slang word for a $20 dollar bill or 20" Rims (wheels)

They partnered with DUB magazine.

To me it's a bit unfortunate. I can see many people trying the wheel cleaner, discovering the mercaptoacetate smell and tossing it in the trash; or not giving it time to react. Then giving a bad review to a good product.

I did try the wheel cleaner today and they were able to tone down the unmistakable odor, but it's still there. It worked well enough on quite dirty opti-coated wheels. Still need to compare to Griots, sonax and iron-x on more challenging wheels

IMHO meguiars should have saved this wheel cleaner for the bulk offerings on the detailer's line. Still holding my breath on that one. I suppose it isn't cheap, fast and idiot-proof so it might not fit with a large segment of the D-line demographic (i.e. hacks).

Thumbs up to you for answering the question w/o slamming the person who didn't honestly know the meaning of the word DUB, very freshing to see this! I would give you cred or a thumbs up but there's no option for that, so this is the best I can come up with!

^ Thank You Klasse Act

Like I've said before. I am here to learn, help other people learn, learn some more and make friends a long the way. :dblthumb2:

and btw I really like the saying, I'm in it for the long run... :buffing:

Take a look at this link. DUB has MANY definitions . DUB meaning went from 20" or larger wheel size 25 years back to a MAJOR cooperation today . DUB Magazine: Car Culture

You guys are correct. They teamed up with DUB for brand recognition. It seems to be a good product from what I have seen here and on other forums. The packaging is clean, the product has been scented to appeal to people and the DUB guys have marketing to their demographic like no one else I have seen in years. The key here is to partner with good partners and not junk.

I can tell you there is a new car audio line coming out under this name as well. And that it is top quality. It will blow away most of the Rcokford Fosgate, Pioneer, Kenwood, even Memphis Audio stuff at a great price. Cool looks, neat packaging, and actual quality.. what a concept.

If you ever have a chance to meet Myles at DUB, he is the Mike Phillips of that field, the guy will leave you amazed at what he has picked up on. Now here is the funny thing, he recently told me that they do not own DUB wheels. Someone stole his name before he had it trade marked so he now has Dropstar and Monster wheels as well as a drink from Monster drinks. He is a true story of starting out in a garage and doing what he loved.

Thanks guys for the clarification! Every day I feel older....

We're all getting older, its all in how you feel! I'm 44 and I blast metal in my car all the time but also blues and jazz too, you just never know what's going to be coming out of my radio! A bit more onpar with the topic, I guess, old school rap is still cool and its going on 25-30 years now, what's good is good.

Because of the reviews here I might pick up some DUB/Mequiars products to try em' out and like someone mentioned, teaming up with Meg's gives you cred immediately!

Update on the durability? And was there any slinging at all? I'll be pretty interested in this product if it has good durability and doesn't sling. And how much of the can would you say you used on your tires?

I had a chance to try out the metal polish. Here are some pics of it.

I did a quick polish to test it out on 4/20/14. These are the results from that day.

Not the best pics but I hope it gives you an idea.
There were some water spots that can be seen in the lower right.

I did a little more through job this past weekend. I used a little 0000 steel wool to remove some of the built up crud and polished the same exhaust tip.
