Meguiar's Hybrid Paint Coating - First Use

Where the h*ll are these deals in Canada?? Heck, they didn't even get this product to Canada until a few months ago, and that's at like 1 store, and expensive.

That's because they are ready to gel.:wowwow:

It hurts to see these.... the one place I found up here that has it, it's $93 CND (thats $69 US).

RRP for this product in Australia is $164.99!

I was actually thinking something about that when typing my post..."I wonder how much it is in Australia? I know it's more, just how much more?"

Thats alot more. Ouch.

And guess how much of it they sell.................................

Let's look at this from two different angles -

Meguiar's Hybrid Paint Coating RRP $164.99 AUD (1+ Year Coating)

CarPro Cquartz UK Edition RRP $104.95 AUD (3-year Coating)

Gyeon Q2 MOHS EVO RRP $119.99 AUD (3+ Year Coating)

Diamond Protech Diamond Body 36 RRP $155.95 (3+ Year Coating)

So, for the same or LESS money, you get a coating that easily outperforms the Meguiar's "coating".

Now, let's look at similar 1-year coatings -

CarPro CQuartz Lite RRP $94.95 (1 Year Coating)

Gyeon CanCoat EVO RRP $84.99 (1 Year Coating)

FEYNLAB Ceramic Lite RRP $64.95 (1 Year Coating)

Again, the Megs product is smashed for price on a similar durability coating. So why would any one buy this product over many other products that are cheaper and or perform better?

Please don't read this as a Meguiar's bashing post, I use and love a select range of their products. But what it does do is explain how out of touch Meguiar's is in this country, pricing their product beyond their level and position in the market.

And it's not just this particular paint coating either. Let's compare Meguiar's with another US made brand sold in Australia..................

Meguiar's D101 1 Gal - RRP $51.99
P&S APC 1 Gal - $41.95

Meguiar’s Wheel & Paint Iron DECON 1 Gal - RRP $186.99
P&S Iron Buster 1 Gal - RRP $154.95

Meguiar's Hyper Wash 1 Gal - RRP $84.95
P&S Pearl 1 Gal - RRP $51.95

Meguiar’s Super Degreaser 1 Gal - RRP $59.95
P&S Enviro Clean Degreaser 1 Gal - RRP $49.95

Meguiar's Last Touch 1 Gal - $84.99
P&S Paint Gloss 1 Gal - RRP $65.95

And so on and so on.

I just don't understand Meguiar's approach to Australia. Are they just trading on name and expecting consumers to not price compare? Do they just take Aussies for suckers? Are they completely oblivious to the massive increase in detailing supply outlets these days? And they can't blame import costs either, P&S products don't seem as effected by this factor.

It's horse #### how much us Aussie pay for detailing product's,

I give snow jobs just too get by:wowwow::wowwow::wowwow:

Is it Meguiars doing it themselves, or a 3rd party that has all distribution rights for Meguiars in Australia?

Interesting question, I always assumed that Meguiar's Australia was an official branch of the parent company.

It seems "Meguiar's Australia" was registered as a company in 1990. The owner expanded, placing Meguiar's under the MotorActive umbrella, which also distributes ColorSpec, Mobil 1 and CarMechanica.

I read that as them having distribution rights to the Meg's brand. Unlike Adam's, which is in fact imported and distributed here by a sole operator and retailed at a premium, Meguiar's is sold through various automotive chain stores, as well as several online automotive and detailing specific webstores. Meguiar's therefore have large scale sales potential, which still has me questioning the inflated prices compared to other US brands. In many cases, Carpro and Gyeon products are cheaper than Megs.
