So.. based upon reviews and a few members recomendations , got many stuff ,
including a meguiars 5" microfiber kit

Was really exited to get to work with them
as my new car was really trashed.

So , after a few playarrounds with the 3" mini griots
and the HT lc pads that worked awesome with other polishes the day for buffing out my car arrived

Watched all your videos mike using this pads , thought i had it pretty covered.

Started by using a hydrotech cyan pad with no issues
( so far more on that on another thread ) , then switched to the meguiars , same BP

Noticed the velcro of the pad was weird
like way too soft but did not take it as something important
( at that time )

until.......

while buffing out started noticing the pads just dont stay centered for long , maybe a few passes , then they start to sound weird and grabby.

i stoped , inspected the issue and found out... pads are not straight at all!!!

pads have a weird pattern where some are bended in many ways

Also noticed that i could almost blow the pad out of the bp , with just pushing with 1 finger up the pad will de-attach

These are new opened from the box kit pads

Its hard to show it in pictures with a crappy phone camera , but the pads tend to go to one side higher than the other

Then trying another one the issue got more and more aparent and frustrating , after a few tries finally realized the pad was not sticking to the BP correctly on the center , if u pushed on the center u then'll hear the pad poping back out ( while the rest of the pad still remained on the bp)

So ... giving what i had , i keep on buffing the car and really getting a hard time removing linear scratches or RIDS

Until the pad started going so far away to 1 side that leaved the bp on the air and that was way too risky to use. So switched back to the HT foam pads.

Cutting or polising pads have the same issue.

Later..... thought of trying out the original BP that comes with the Griot's to find... they stick way better than with the BP supplied with the meguiars brand BP..

Other pads do to, the stick way better and firm

Although the same thing happens with the center , it will pop back up , this things have a logo on the back so maybe thats why they dont stick , or is this and the pads not being straight is not an issue at all? they just need to stick firmly on the sides and your good to go?

Thoughts?

I didn't have any issues with the megs MF pads. I have an LC backing plate. It stuck on the plate really well.

I have 6" pads and they stick to my Rupes like glue. Wonder if you have a bad batch? There is a thread on here from the Meg's guy, maybe Mike will chime in too.

What BP are you using?
Meg recommends using their backing plates

"Further, it is highly recommended that our backing plates be used, primarily due to the micro-hook attachment system. While a longer, more traditional hook & loop attachment system will hold the pads in place, this mismatch will cause operating temperature on the disc to increase noticeably."

Using Meguiar's D/A Microfiber Correction System

We just used the Meguiar's Microfiber DA System at our last Detailing Boot Camp Class and I don't remember hearing anyone citing any issues with it.

If the hook backing on the back of the pads does not have a strong attachment to the hook side of the backing plate and you're using the Meguiar's backing plate then Meguiar's needs to know about this just as a part of gathering data an monitoring the performance of the Microfiber DA Correction System.

One thing for sure... you read a lot more positive experiences about this system on this forum and any forum than you read about issues...

Let me send the link to this thread to Mike Stoops at Meguiar's so he's aware and he might have some insight on this issue.

:)

Sorry to hear you're having an issue with these pads. Your pictures show what looks like totally normal pads, but even if they were thicker on one end than the other (something we have never seen before) it would have no impact whatsoever on whether or not they would adhere to the backing plate. Speaking of which, what backing plate are you using here as you didn't make that totally clear. From Day 1 with this system we have always stated that our W67DA backing plate is the recommended piece, and we ship that with the 5" DAMF Starter Kit.

Can you provide an image of the backing plate you used, showing the condition of the hook material on it, please?

It may be overkill but I ONLY use the same pad/bp together from the same mfgr. I.E. Meguiar's bp/Meguiar's pads, LC bp/pads etc.

Hey guys , thx for the responses

Michael , the BP its the original that comes with your kit and its brand new, when i get home i can post a picture if u want.

MF Pads attach way more firm with the traditional BP that comes with the griot's , more like a regular foam pad.

LC foam pads attach fine with the meguiars supplied bp from the kit , but also are more firm with the griot's one.

Did a video showing this and i can upload it
