I have had the privilege to able to help out in the development of the new microfiber DA system for a little over four years or so.

I remember when I was first shown the pad I laughed at it and gave it very little attention. I was convinced to try them out and I was blown away.

Here are two of the prototypes of what I got to play with four years ago.

The yellow foam (for waxing) is kind of what they sponge bath grandma with. The black (cutting) is more like a rubber than a sponge.

I used these types of MF prototype pads on all of the major paint corrections I have done over the past four years. Here are a few.......

I have tested the latest configuration of the MF pads on countless vehicles with many different types of machines.

The system is revolutionary! Similar to how it was when over spray clay or foam pads came out.

I can get a very high level of defect correction almost effortlessly. The D300 is practically dustless (yes a little) and the wax is so easy to use it is scary!

The wax by its self leave a very nice shine on paint already in nice condtion.

Remember you still have to use the proper tool for the job..... What the system doesn't like........ soft paint, hot paint. I had a car painted with an old enamel paint job that I was attempting to correct in fun sun on a hot day. The MF system really did work at all on that.

My favorite machine with the system is my G100v2 (with D300 or #105) My least favorite, the cyclo.

If you have any questions ask away and I'll do my best to be helpful.

Hi Joe,

I see you have done a lexus in your pics which have notoriously soft paint (it chips if you look at it the wrong way). How well did the system work on that? Rasky used cutting and finishing discs as per the system intended and said it was a joy to work on.

I plan to use Griots and power finish as my compound (with either the cutting or finishing discs) but also have 105.

thx

For the lexus I replaced D300 with 105 and it worked great.

For the record, I only used the cutting step (D300/MF) on that other Lexus. ;)

I'm working on a black 2010 Lexus with a tinted clear now. D300 worked very well, but as Joe noted, M105 actually worked better! It cut more and finished off better too! Very dependent on technique though! :props:

This is before after with D300...left a slight haze, better seen with the dual xenon.

Always makes me feel good when a person of your caliber of detailing and polishing skills comes to the same conclusion as I did. Thanks.

Hey Joe,
The million dollar question.... How did/does the MF system work with the Flex3401? If you say it's a go, I'm gonna order a boat load of D300/MF pads. If it's a no, I won't bother...

Joe,

I found the MF cutting pads/d300 very hard to work with, with the 3401. I've come to the conclusion that this system doesn't work well at all with the 3401. Any tips as far as speed, pressure, etc???

Funny....I was thinking the same thing. :)

It was the original testers like you that tried it first though. :props:

Hey Mark,
What was the main issue you had with the combo? When I read your review regarding the Flex3401/Megs MF DA system, I pumped the brakes on any orders towards the system. That's why I'm so cautious about this system. It's like a doctor, I want a second opinion...HA

ok then, cutting discs and 105

if I get to 85% of how good that 50/50 looks I'll be happy

thanks!

The Flex DA with the MF cutting pad works much better with Meguiars #105 than it does with D300. D300 likes to be "rubbed in" nice and easy. The Flex seems to be easier to handle at the higher speeds that D300 doesn't excel at.

So I'll be good with just getting the pads? Flex, MF pads, 105 and finish with the 205 or 85rd with the finishing MF pad?

Keep in mind I am not a great fan of the Flex DA. I can't seem to master it. Maybe others who have used the Flex DA with much success can chime in.

I agree. The Flex with other pad/product combos works pretty nicely but the MF system on a flex wouldn't be my first choice for paint correction.

jimmy, the MF pads/d300 were very grabby. The polisher was all over the place. Plus, at higher speeds, I got "balding" on the pads. I'm convinced the MF system doesn't work well at all with the 3401. I'm gonna give m105 a try, but I can't imagine it will make a huge difference.

Thanks Mark!
I won't even look at this system until I get a GG DA. I was just hoping I could get away from purchasing a second DA. I'm very comfortable with the Flex, but if the MF system will take out a step in the correction process it gets my attention. Thanks again Mark & Joe you guys are one of the authorities on AGO IMO!

Joe, have you experienced ant pad separation on the cutting pad? Or flat spotting in the middle of the pad? I've used the system on one car, was blown away, but then hit 3 boats 2 of which were heavily oxidized and had 1 pad separate and the other is starting to flat spot in the middle of the pad, I'm using my air compressor only to clean them, so my only other guess to the cause would be pad saturation, but I'm using very little product, on a gg speed 3.5. Have you experienced this? Might just be a boat thing causing the problem, but the results were stunning and the customers were pleased :)
