Meguiars mirror glaze professional vs. higher end products

All I know is that any meguiar's product that I have used works from the mirror glaze or detailer line. Even the ultimate line gets the job done. I do agree that they have a lot of products that could possibly be phased out with the newer SMAT technology. Let's see what they bring to the table for 2014.

It is Very hard to beat Megs Products for the price. I really like almost all of their Pro Series. I agree that is why they have been around 100 years.

I do think that PBMG has some very good products. They may cost a little more but they all work well and give great results.

I go with what Mike Phillips said. "Find something you like and use it often."

Hopefully I can say this with out offending the Mods, Granted I have not tried as many products as some of you, Ill keep myself limited to the main two I have tried. Megs UC and UP and UW. V/S HD3D UNO and Speed.

Just from my use of these Products I have become a convert. The HD products are very user friendly and produce great results. In Megs defence, even the marketing guy at HD has said sometimes he still reaches for 105 for some jobs. I find this to be a great quality in that they will still give credit to a good product. I did my daughters hood a week ago with speed and this weekend, even though dirty, it still has great gloss.

I liked Mikes advice which was stated above, in that find what you like and learn to use it. I plan on getting the rest of the products as $$$become available. Here is a good vid on some stuff by, Gary Dean [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hesN_PQ65yI]Review HD UNO and HD Polish 3D products Meguiars M105 M101 Buff and Shine pads Garry Dean Tampa, FL Premium Custom Detailing Griots Garage polisher - YouTube[/video]

Once again note to MODs, I hope this does not violate the UP since we afer talking about Megs also.

I detail everything from daily drivers to multi million dollar vehicles using almost entirely Meguiars products. I only use three products that aren't Meguiars.

i actually find 105 to be a pain in the ass sometimes. It works extremely well but ease of use isnt that great. just bought 101 to compare.

I love 105 but agree its a pain too but now I add one pea size drop of UC to three pea size drops of 105 and all it well.
Still get the cut I'm after but with longer work times and wipes off much easier.

If I was to try a "higher end wax" I'd lean towards Pete's 53, I hear mostly good things about it.

It is an excellent wax. Petes was the first wax I purchased and I still buy it looks badass on black. Next to that I enjoy collinite 845 on white and HD Poxy for other colors.

Say it a'int so, Joe! Seriously, care to share the names of the three? I also have three or four and am curious if any cross.

I've got far less product experience here than most, but I have a hard time trying/buying more expensive items when I've been able to get great results with the Meguiars stuff I already have on hand. The fact you can find many of there items products on store shelves gives them an even bigger edge for those detailing moments you didn't plan in advance.

Recently I was very surprised by their Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax. After buying my DA polisher I tested it out on my my daughter's 14-year old, long neglected Subaru. After hitting the car with UC and UP, I dug the old, dusty Deep Crystal out of the back of the cabinet simply because I wanted somethin quick/easy to protect the car until I did the major fall/winter detail. I had no expectations going in. Two~three months later it still looks great and is beading water like crazy! I had no idea. I was going to toss the bottle, but it looks like I'll keep it around and use it like a sealant topper.

In thinking about it, three is currently my non-Meguiar's product count as well. My three non-Megs products are:

1. Leather Cleaner
2. Leather Protection
3. Coating

I know Meguiar's recently introduced a new leather sealant but I still have quarts of Leather Masters to go through before I'll likely even try it.

Hopefully for 2014, Meguiar's will bring a strong coating product to the US market as well.

I've been asked before on another forum why I predominately use Meguiar's products. For me, the answer is easy. They make good products and they stand behind them unconditionally. They have toll free CS staff to handle any problems I may encounter and they have stayed on top of their game, for some 112 years. They produce products for the consumer, the professional and the volume detailer. They perform and price competitively in all three markets. They cover a very broad spectrum of auto care needs, broader than any other manufacturer I am aware of, and they simplify my purchasing, stocking and resupply.

There is also this... I find this to be true of any manufacturers products.

Once I've learned the character and best techniques for a given product, it will usually perform above my expectations. Initially, if a product doesn't seem to be giving the results that I expect, it may be that my technique is at least partially to blame. Once I learn a particular product I can count on predictable and repeatable results, time after time, car after car. I do devote a bit of time to exploring new products but I don't introduce them into my work flow without a good deal of testing and making a value judgement on the gains.

I guess what I'm saying is I have used Meguiar's products for many years (decades actually) and have learned to love them and while I do test other products I've found little reason to alter my work flow except for the previously mentioned three areas.

As someone already mentioned... higher cost does not necessarily equal higher quality. My day job is in production and the equation is simple. More quantity produced, the cheaper the cost and if I was a betting man, I would put my money on that Meg probably produces and sells a heck of a lot more than most others.

I bought a large tin of Meg's GoldClass Wax for 10 bucks, I used it and was impressed at the shine it gave me, was easy to apply and remove.
Sure there's better, but how much better I always ask myself.
Really is about if one loves it or not, if someone says it's no good that's fine, as long as I'm happy that's all that counts. :)

Very nice list there!

I see a lot of people storing detailing products in the trunk of their cars. Some products need to be stored at a certain temperature otherwise it will "curd" which what it sounds like happened to your wax. Also make sure you shake the bottle well before use. Hope this helps.
