Meguiars NXT 2.0 a cleaner wax?

Typically the NXT when applied by itself would only last a couple of days, much like a spray wax. Though its so easy to apply and remove, can definitely apply it every week.

Wow.... some of you guys are pretty stubborn. I hope that the following link will end this for all.

Michael Stoops of Meguiar's states:
"NXT Tech Wax 2.0 has virtually zero cleaning ability..."

NXT (cleaner?)

There it is folks......TWO unquestioned experts saying it does NOT have any cleaning ability. If you need more convincing than that you've been drinking too much Turtle Wax.

I treat Meguiars NXT and Ultimate Wax like Meguiars no. 7 well not as much but they you just get a lot of shine and not much durability.

Haha been drinking to much Turtle wax lol

I also question NXT on durability.
Just applied UW on my car week ago and will see.
However, I did top UW with a carnauba so my observation will probably not be a good indicator on durability.

I started using NXT after we did a car and presented it to the customer at the Auto Body Shop

From there probably lasted like 3 detailers washes at most. From a regular person probably less cos of equipment and technique.

So the net result of Mike's argument is that NXT's mild cleaners are not considered strong enough to polish the paint for the purposes of correcting. I'm OK with that. Now having said that, even a Meguiars rep (at the time of that article's creation) had it wrong too. The "cleaner" has some implications that stretch into polish/correct. I forgot about that aspect of Mike's article.

I would like to put up a motion that separates a cleaner/wax and cleaner/sealant from an AIO-type of product. AIO's lightly clean, polish, correct and add a layer of protection whereas a cleaner/?? product will do the same without any polishing or correcting.

No offense to Mike P. or anyone else for that matter, but Darwinian law implies that anything that does not evolve, dies out. :-)

I doubt that's going to ever happen...

Here's the deal... if I was working on a neglected finish, by hand or machine, and I wanted to use some type of cleaner/wax or AIO to get the job done, I wouldn't use NXT Tech Wax, I would choose a dedicated product specifically made to be used as a one step product to restore neglected paint.

Just to note, just about any non-cleaning product can be made to clean by simply changing the application methods and material as I discuss here,

Factors that affect how aggressive or non-aggressive a product is

And I do discuss the difference between a cleaner/wax and a finishing wax in this article and actually go into a lot of depth on a lot of related topics... it's a good read...

I can't believe I'm prolonging the agony in this thread, but Mike, you didn't really address this in your cleaner wax/finishing wax article--I thought waxes like NXT (I've only used the original version) have a "cleaner" ingredient that doesn't really clean or correct the paint in the sense we talk about here, but does enough cleaning to promote adhesion of the product because the "average Joe" won't have prepped the surface like one of us Geeks.

And that products that don't use these cleaners, like #26 (to stick with Meguiar's) state that "residue won't dry white" and are much less likely to stain trim than NXT or the old Gold Class or Medallion.

I'm going to order up a dedicated AIO type product for use when detailing families cars but today I'm just washing, claying, waxing my Mom's car for Mother's Day.

All I have is the NXT 2.0 and will be applying with the PC7424XP. What pad would you guys use to apply the NXT?

White Foam or Black Foam CCS pad?

My recommendation is the black pads.

Either will work, use the white if you want a little more "cleaning" (ducking).

lol
The arguement was whether NXT will clean or not.
But doesn't pad selection has more to do with whether it will cut or not.
I think cleaning and cutting are 2 different things no?

Well I was using when it was Nxt and I`m using NXT2.0 now as a undercoat sealer. NXT2.0 has some cleaning properties in it but they are not "abrasives they are chemical" So it will clean a bit but the process isn`t abrasive.

If you go buy Meguiar's NXT at your local Pep Boy's. One would apply the wax and it will look awesome. But in the end if you "truly" want to fix it. Your better off ordering something else from a real Detail Shop. In this case AG
