I've been using M105/M205 for awhile now, but decided to try the more "user friendly" OTC Meguiars products. Love ultimate compound(see earlier thread). I recently tried SwirlX as a follow up to UC, and it worked well. Very easy to use, just like ultimate compound. It uses SMAT just like M205. IME, it's a tad lighter in cut than M205, so there was less marring, especially on soft paint. After, I spoke to Tim at Meguiars to see if my observations were right, and he did say that SwirlX is a lighter polish than M205. This doesn't mean that I've abandoned M105/M205, but I will reach for the OTC combo first to see if it can get the job done with a DA.

The downside to SwirlX is that it is so thick. Its a little difficult to get out of the bottle. I guess you could transfer it to a more pliable bottle but you shouldnt have to do that. Other then than its great stuff.

I really like Swirlx. It removes light swirls and is a great follow up to UC or M105.

Glad to read SwirlX is pretty good. I actually have some in my house and was curious about the level of cut.

EDIT: According to that link. SwirlX is the second to the weakest based on what Mike's post says.

EDIT: Coming from Michael Stoops at Meguairs, SwirlX has more cut than M205, and will not finish as well as M205. Michael knows his stuff. My observations must have been wrong.

i was just about to post this. thx for your update.

I really need to get myself a bottle of UC. As i'm one of those guys that finds 105 very effective, but a little finicky to work with sometimes.

Wait until you have to use it on heavy oxidation. Good luck!

Paint soaks it up really quick, pad soaks it up and it already dries quick! Jeeeeesh!

Around here the SwirlX has been on clearance at Wal-Mart.

I too tried SwirlX and it works great for soft paints and finishes LSP ready!!

I tried it on a few panels with factory baked hard paint and it wasn't that effective!
