Me and my wife bought a used Pontiac G8 GT a few weeks ago and it has pretty bad swirl marks:awman:. The G8s are pretty notorious for their soft paint like the '04 GTO i owned, but I bought that car new and only used microfiber towels and zaino on it so it stayed in pretty decent shape. I thought i could live with the swirls but everytime i wash it they drive me crazy so I've decided to jump into the pool and get a DA:buffing:. This is my wifes daily driver so i'm not looking for perfection, just get most of the swirls out and make it look nice on a budget.
I plan on getting the Griot's DA, LC H2O pads, and Meg's 105/205 combo. I figure it's time to retire my about 6 year old MF towels I bought from Sams:eek: and this is were my question comes in. What are ya'lls thoughts on the meguiars microfiber towels, it's just not in the budget right now to spend 4 or 5 dollars a towel for the really nice ones. I was also looking at the Mango breeze ones.
Looking forward to ya'lls opinions.:xyxthumbs:

thanks, Daniel

These are really Nice towels for the price!

And :welcome:to AGO Daniel

I use some yellow ones from wally-world and they do the job just fine without scratching. I really don't see the point in spending 4 or 5 dollars on a towel either. Except for the waffle-weave type ones, because they actually seem better when you spend more.

The yellow Meg's towels (supreme shine) are ok but the white edgeless (ultimate wipe) linted like crazy for me. I reduced it to general purpose towel because I couldn't stand the linting. I have a bunch of Sam's towels that I've owned for 3 years now and they are still safe for paint. I have PakShak towels, a DMT towel, Cobra Indigo, Cobra general purpose, AutoGlym, and some Viking towels. I have no problems reaching for my Sam's towels to use on paint when my PakShak, DMT, Cobra Indigo (pre hot wire cut) towels are dirty.

The Meguiar's supreme shine towels are nice for what they are designed for: removing polish, wax.
They are soft and I do not see any visible swrils caused by those towels.
I use them a lot for my detailing process.
When you wash your MF towels, I recommend using a proper MF detergent like Micro Restore. It can really make the towels cleaner/softer.
Remember, All products sold here at Autogeek are good for your car.

If you are in a budget, take a look at Chemical guys. Their MF are high quality, soft and plush, very similar to cobra, but at a much cheaper price if you buy in bulk like a dozen.

I have used the ProForce MF's from Sam's Club to remove M105 on a freshly polished black Tahoe with no marring.

$10 for a pack of 24... not too bad.

Which color were you using? For some reason they seem to wear differently for each color over time

I know this wasn't directed at me but I have been using the yellow & orange for 3 years without issue. I haven't tried the blue or green so I can't comment. I have washed mine with regular laundry detergent without softeners and dry on low heat. The addition of white vinegar during the rinse cycle has improved softness.

Yea the orange and yellow hold up the best, the darker colors curl up on the edges and seem to lose their softness faster, I've been wondering if that has to do with the dying process, only thing I can think of

Thanks everyone for your replies:dblthumb2:. I think i might go ahead and buy me another set of Sams towels since there doesn't seem to be a problem with them scratching. another question for ya, what's ya'lls recomendation for a waffle weave towel. I use a leaf blower to blow most of the water off and out of the crevices, but i usually end up with quite a few water spots especially on the windows. Thanks again for all the help.

I REALLY like the Cobra Guzzler and Guzzler Supreme/Ultimate, they are WAY softer than any of the other waffle-weaves that I have used and they soak up more water too. Not the Guzzler HD, I haven't used that one.

Still wouldn't pay full price for them though, I got them during a sale.

I have some other Waffle-weaves that I use on glass only because they aren't as soft but they are fantastic on glass, they are from another vendor but I don't remember where I got them from.
