I would mod surfer 's last comment as negative because his post had no relevance to the topic,.
how else would he acheive over 3,000 + post in such a short period of time ;)

I think if it is a module that is already included with vBulletin or a simple plugin, it couldn't hurt to try. You ofcourse will always get your offtopic, wise crack, "i'd hit it", or lame product ftw post, that is just the nature of car forums. post count alone is no indication of the persons knowledge, but join date + post count + reputation could give the reader a fair representation of the posters quality of advice. The rule "don't trust everything you read on the internet" certainly applies when you are researching products that will be in contact with your cars paint.

I know what VPL said about you and Joe!:D[/quot

sparkie, I know Lauren is always picking on me and making fun of me. At least I have Joe for company.

I am definitely for it if we can find a gauge to distinguish knowledge from popularity.

I would mod surfer 's last comment as negative because his post had no relevance to the topic, offered no wisdom and was in a selfish tone. That doesn't mean that he gives bad advice just because he cracks a joke from time to time.

you'll get use to it. He means nobody any harm.

As for reputation points, I too think popularity would get in the way of knowledge. Maybe we could change post counts to consider seniority but that too has a way of being abused.

What I would remind all is that when inside a post there is a box available in the red tool box about the post that says "rate this thread" , and I would use it as possible to help show those members you respect and their posts that standout as truly offering great advice. Those stars are seen on main page and help to identify post to newer users and us old users alike !

Agreed. Have to say it sounds a bit high school to me.

Member reputations sounds high school? What high school did you go to?

^^ I think he meant that paying for someone to be banned for a certain period, was kinda childish/high school. But I could be wrong.

Oh, well I dont think that would happen anyways.

I say we give it a shot. Whats the worse that could happen? It doesnt work so we take it off.
