Menzerna 85RD

I've used 85 on a white pad with my flex. It works on minor stuff only.

Perfect for me, thanks! Just the type of info I needed. This and 85/blue should serve me well between major corrections.

Hi,
What do you guys think about the new gold LC CCS pad which is for jeweling using with the 85rd or should I stick with the blue pad?

I have the Mernz PO106FF and PO83 that Ive yet to try...would the 83 be close enough to this 85RD if used with the 106ff...???

There won't be a whole lot of difference between the two, neither one really has any cut but the gold is a little softer. I would say use the gold one on only the softest paints.

Thank you.
This is exactly what I thought of and I think I will stick with the blue since I got extremely hard clear coats.

I am not sure what your question is but here is my explaination of the four products. PO83 (Super Intensive Polish or SIP) is a moderate cutting compound. PO85RD is an extremely light finishing polish. PO106ff fulls in between, it is a polish with respectable polishing ability.

Generally I use SIP (with my rotary) on a purple foamed wool pad for moderate paint correction or with a green or white foam pad for lighter paint correction if the paint is soft. SIP can also be used to clean up compounding haze if I had just use a heavy compound like Menzerna PowerGloss or Meguiars 105. Then I would probably use SIP on a white or green foam pad.

106 is a step down from SIP. You could use it with a white or green foam pad for some pretty good polishing power or on a black pad more for paint finessing.

85RD is a further step down from 106. 85RD has very very minimal cut. Don't use it if you are trying to correct anything. The paint should be in great shape before you reach for this. With 85RD you generally want to be using only a finishing pad like the blue or red pad. Some use black pads but blue or red would probably be better.

You really dont want to be correcting anything with 85rd. Its best used as a jeweling polish to increase gloss. If you need something stronger Id step up to 106FF.
Menzerna's Power Finish is a great product too, it basically does three in one, mild cutting ability ( just under SIP) polishes and shines like a Nano

can you use 85rd with the flat black lc pads? I do not have any blue.

You can use PO85RD with almost all the pads in the world. But if I would narrow it down, it would be with soft foam pads.

So yes, a flat black LC pad would be just perfect.

You could also try a polish like XMT 360 for "maintenance" polishings between full details, I use it all the time to clean up minor defects. Just work polish till it's gone and reapply LSP. :xyxthumbs:
