Well I think I screwed up and ordered the wrong thing, so I think

I have Menzerna fg400 and just ordered the german final gloss combo. This contains FF3000, I made the mistake and didn't order SF4000. I heard all the good things about going from fg400 to sf4000. Did I screw up and order the wrong product to go from fg400? But here's my ace in the hole, I have SF4500. I was going to go from fg400 to sf4000 and then onto sf4500 for the extra shine. I'm trying to achieve a show car finish for well my weekend/show car. It has some pretty bad swirls from who knows where, I think it's from my drying towel, but anyways it's seeing swirls somewhere. So my question is will I be good to go with fg400 to ff3000 and then onto sf4500? Oh I will also be sealing this all off with Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant.
 
Before you go buying more maybe try a test spot with fg400 followed by sf4500. What vehicle is it that you will be working on? You may be surprised after just doing the fg400 how well that product finishes out. And just doing a final polish with sf4500 will be all you need if anything at all.

I also suggest trying the FG400 on a White pad. This combo has worked for me on two Camrys that had medium hardness CC. Was able to eliminate 90% of defects and did not have to finish with an additional polish step. Caveat is that they were both silver.

You might try the SF4500 on a White Pad as well as a Black pad

I did try the test spot and it was still a bit of swirls, I tried it on an orange pad with a griots da on high, the car is a 2000 VW Jetta but it has a custom paint that is pretty darn hard
 
Well especially if it's hard clear the fg400 can finish lsp ready. Can we get some pictures of the defects you are looking to correct? If the fg400 step isn't getting it all out sf4000 isn't going to help either. So I think you may be on the right path and have all the products you need already.
 
So i have the car cleaned, clayed and ready to go for tomorrow. I was not able to get a shot of the swirls but there's swirls alright. My plan of attack is to do a test spot of fg400 with a orange pad and then step up to a yellow pad if I need to, that'll get rid of the swirls. Here's where my question comes in. I have yellow, orange, white, black, and red pads what should I follow up fg400 with? I was going to use ff3000 if it still needs some finishing off but what pad would you use that with? is orange to aggressive? or is black not aggressive enough? and then I'll finish it all off with sf4500 now what pad would you use to use that? red or black?

IMO I think you will be fine with the Orange Pad with the FG400. Additionally, I think that is all you will need to get rid of the swirls. I use fg400 all the time and that product really removes the swirls. With the SF4500 I would be using the White Pad. That is hard enough to bring out the shine from using the FG4000. These 2 combo color pads and product should be all you need to work on your car.

The Red pad would be for sealant or wax. Same with the Black pad too. I prefer the Red as it is softer IMO.

As for the Yellow I cannot comment as I have never used the Yellow pad because after the combo I mentioned above should be all you need. Here is the picture of my ride with the combo I mentioned. My last thing was a sealant and then a wax.

If the marring is actually from your drying towel...you should not have to get as aggressive as FG400/Orange

I would try FG400/White x4 nice slow passes w medium pressure & see what you get

My advice would be to use MF pads for cutting. Then finish out with foam and fine polish. I've had excellent results on Cadillac paint using MF to cut.

It's a Jetta with custom paint, not a Cadillac

He is doing it tomorrow and has foam pads, not MF
 
Hanks guys I'm going to see what is needed if anything after fg400 and possibly go strait to sf4500 I'll keep you guys updated, I'm going for hat wet look I just want the car to look like it was just painted and still drying

Just got done doing a quarter of the roof and wow fg400 is amazing, now hear me first, I've used this before on a swirled out deeply scratched black paint and the results were not perfect but it was what I could do with the time but now on my jetta with moderately swirled paint this stuff is awesome, I've done 2 passes on an orange pad checking my work as it gos and half the roof looks bad but the other half is flawless here's some pics if you can see it, there fell phone pics

With the pearl in it it's hard to see but in person in sun it's flawless

Just wanted the deepest shine I could get that's why I had questions about using ff3000 just was trying to get that extra depth

I will be following this up with sf4500 on a white pad correct? Or is that to aggressive? I've heard of people using black pads for it

Typically it would be sf4000 white and sf4500 black to really get the most pure polish from it. But if you have super hard clear I would say the white pad would be a solid choice. Again though just do a test with both. If the sf4500 and a black pad is exactly the look you want then you are set if not try white.
 
I typically use SF4500 on a black pad, but have used it on a white pad when it isn't quite getting rid of as much marring as I need.
 
I'm going to guess that you'll find anything other than a compound is not worth your while with that hard clear. Just a guess.
 
For me SF4000 is regulated mostly to the white pad while SF4500 is used on black.

You want to achieve the deepest shine, use FF3000 on white and follow that with SF4500 on black. Then use your LSP.
 
Great input, I'm going rotary a test spot of ff3000 on a white pad, if isee no difference I will move onto sf4500 on a white and compare it to a black pad too, thanks guys for the help
