Okay perfect, my car is black. Will do. I got a whole bunch of Lake Country Hybrid pads coming. I'm guessing the yellow/gold pad is the one to use with 3800? That's their softest pad.

I've been using Essence, Koch Chemie M2, Kevin Brown method (32oz of water and 12 drops M205, which I increased to around 20), on a black or red hybrid pad.
I see the compounds evolving towards a more 'vanishing' properties, in which I particularly like it, especially for finishing.
Essence is a fine example of what I consider this new trend.
Sometimes, when I use the 4000, I don't try to remove all the residue, therefore prone to marring, I leave some film and use Essence or M2 (and a local brand called Vonixx, in which is surprinsingly good for that matter) on top of it, to work as a residue remover/finisher.

I just looked at my order of hybrid pads. I have 6 orange, 6 white, 3 black and 3 red coming. I didn't order any gold pads. Am I able to use the red pads or am I gonna have to order some gold pads? I was gonna take off of work and spend the day on friday doing this. I don't think I'll be able to get the gold pads by then.

You will be fine utilizing either choice in pads in conjunction with 3800.
 
In past posts I can remember some talk about a Menzerna product that can just about work like a compound and finish almost like a polish.

Is this true that they make a product like that, and which one might it be? Considering using this product instead of an AIO.

FG400, but its not an AIO.
 
Ray, perhaps you are thinking of PF2500. This is a great one step polish.

If you need these results in an AIO Menzerna 3n1 AIO would fit the bill.
 
When using 3800 with crimson hydrotech on DA such as PC or GG6 and trying to squeeze out that last little bit of extra gloss I figure pressure is light but what about machine speed? Fast or slow, ie 3 or 4 or 6 or some combo? Just looking to squeeze out the best gloss on LSP-Ready paint.

Go straight to 3800. Especially if you have an Audi/MBZ/BMW as the formulation is excellent for those paints. Ask me how I know. :)

I have a Chevrolet SS. Should I try with 3500/3800, then just 3800? This will be the first time I really correct the paint on this car so I don't know what to expect.
 
To answer your original question dlc, i use German Mike's techniques with my Flex 3401, LC Hybrid pads and Menzerna products. Unbelievable results!

Additionally, i don't get much dusting at all with Menzerna. When i detect some dusting, and that does happen in this heat of FL sometimes, i switch out pads.

As you have black paint, I would follow up your compounding step with 3500 as it all the polishing power needed to clean up whatever is left behind from the first step while finishing up crystal clear.

For me, if I need to really compound the paint I can start off with the PE14 FLEX rotary, wool pad, & Menzerna SC300. True it will leave halograms in the paint but will remove just about anything from the paint. After that step I will equip the 3401 with the white hybrid pad & SF3500 as it has the ability to clear up the heavy cutting step and finish out ready for wax, sealant, coating, etc. SF3800 does not have the ability to clear up this first heavy compounding step.

I would follow up your compounding step with the white pad and SF3500. If you really want to take it up a notch and willing to spend the time on a third step, run SF3800 on a finer pad.

That is exactly what I will do. I'm taking off of work tomorrow and am gonna spend the entire day on it. The car is cleaned and ready to go so I don't have to spend time cleaning. I hope I can finish by Saturday morning. There's a show I would like to go to on Saturday morning.

Tomorrow, the fun begins :)
