I just purchased Menzerna SF4500. I want to achieve the highest gloss possible. Im using a Lake Country black pad on a Flex 3401, what speed setting should I use?

Use Speed setting 4 that should be fine. You have IMO some of the best polishing stuff....PERIOD. I like the Red and Gold Lake Country CCS Pads. However, you can't go wrong with the Black Pad either...nice choice of products.

I think I may have copied my article on another of your threads about maximixing the potential of the 3401 with Menzerna. Just wanted to make sure you saw it.

With SF4500, I would set the machine to the 5-6 speeds for the initial break down of the product and then slowly bring it down to the 1-2 speeds by the time you are in the 6-8 section pass range.

So speed 4 on a flex with black pad. Could I go from fg400 with a orange cutting pad right to sf4500/black pad ,or should I use I coarser polish before the sf4500?

If you are trying to achieve "Maximum gloss" 4500 should be used as a third step polish. Not a clean up for FG400. 4000 is better suited for a 2 step polishing job following FG400...then 4500 if so desired to do a 3rd step. Speed 4 is fine...changing pressure is how to really make 4500 work. Changing speeds isn't the most effective way of using this polish IME.

So, if I started with FG400, and im finishing with SF4500. What Menzerna polish should I use?

SF4000 on a white or black pad is the way to go...Most likely white.... SF4500 has very little cut and will only remove defects (polish induced or otherwise) on the softest of paints.

Ok. Should I do a entire IPA wipedown before I do a SF4500 finish?

The SF4500 is just the SF4000 with less abrasives. Please keep that in mind.
Some of my Detailing Friends here in Germany did a Factory Tour at Menzerna and they told them and showed them that you need a hard pad or Woolpad for every Compound/Polish they have. THat's why Menzerna sells only 3 Pads. White(ultra Hard), Yellow(Hard) and Black(soft, they use them only for their sealants) and a Woolpad.

You need a hard pad or a Woolpad to break the compound/polish down and to get maximum gloss.

Lake country Orange and Yellow Pads and the purple syntetic Wools work well to.
