Mequires (high End) Pro Line!!!??really?

sometimes some OTC products are just as good as the boutique and it's what's inside the bottle that matters, not the outside...

Junebug, have you ever tried Stoners compound?

IG is good, but not in my top two or three favorite glass cleaners, the exterior trim spray can is nice to have around.

what is your favorites?

Brian - how ya doin? No, haven't tried Stoners Compound, how is it? And like Ross Perot - I'm all ears if you have a better glass cleaner than IG. None of that boutique, got to mail order crap that costs 3x as much either - something I can get locally like I can IG. Which is $3.49 at WallyMart.

Ive use just about every glass cleaner there is that is suitable for automobiles. They were all JUST about the same till I recently tried stoners invisible glass. I hear a lot of people using it so I tried it. The stuff is amazing. Its completely surpassed my expectations.

Does it remove mag chloride (magnesium chloride) from the windscreen? If so, I'll buy a barrel of the stuff. Could have used it today - snowing, cold, lots of liquid MC on the roads.

Regards,

GEWB

No idea. For heavy contamination i use clay, a glass polish (Diamondite) and a glass sealer....that seems to help.

For keeping windows with no issues completely clean, IG works awesome.

Well, talking about the Pro Line, Meguiars is getting ready to release 205, which on the abrasive scale is similar to 80. From several reputable people who have tried it, they are calling it hands down the best polish they've ever used. That's a HUGE statement and I for one am excited about trying it. A suggested follow up for 105, I could see these two products phasing out the 80 series...

I would not however compare them with Pinnacle, Zaino, Wolfgang, and other high lines specifically.
I agree that you can't directly compare their lines directly with the ones you mentioned above. I would put Meguiar's polishes way above anything Pinnacle, Zaino or Wolfgang offer. As far as LSP type protection, Pinnacle, Zaino and Wolfgang have them beat. If we are talking about dressing and interior items, that seems to be just up to personal preference. All have great items in their lines in that respect.

I would rank them as high end product. You don't have to be priced high to offer exceptional perfromance.

I would put M26 against DoDo Juice Supernatural anyday and keep $185 in my wallet.

Pinnacle, Zaino or Wolfgang aren't really known for polishes - I think Menzerna makes the WG ones so they should be top notch but a bit pricey. Zaino makes a decent polish - nowhere near the cut that M105 has, but's not intended to be. Where I get ticked is the shear number of polishes Megs puts out - the single digits, the 80's, now the 105-205 combo which Menzerna already did with Power Gloss (34) and Power Finish (203). It gets confusing - so, I'm sticking to the Menzerna line and adding Zaino as my LSP and also just using ZPC when I can. I've tried 203 and like it, time will tell if I can just get it and skip SIP&106.

I like SCG glass cleaner, it just works well for me

I like duragloss clearview as well, flashes streak free as well as anything, little goes a long way.

Extremely filthy interior glass usually gets a warm water/white vinegar misting prior to a traditional glass cleaner.

QEW diluted to qd is also in my top three.

I'm doing well, I hope everythings going well in your neck of the woods. I haven't tried Stoners compound but I have seen it by the gallon and was told it's a very effective compound. I didn't know they even made polishes, but apparently from what I gather, it's been out for a while, and has a pretty good reputation.

Meguiar's Pro line is definitely high end! It may not be as expensive as some of the others, but it delivers exceptional results time and time again. There is also a reason that Meguiar's is the leader in the car care industry.

If the new M205 works anything like M105, the competition is in for a world of hurt IMO. From the reviews I've seen this new combo is going to rock the detailing world! :righton:

...and as far as the OTC polishes like DC1 are concerned, DC1 a chemical cleaner. Your expectations for a product need to be realistic. You're not going to try and remove 1500grit sanding scratches with a chemical cleaner now are you? Meguiar's OTC polishes do work very well for their target market. If you plan to deliver high end work, then you should be using the pro line. That's not to say that a job can't be done with the consumer line. It simply depends on what the customer's expectations are. Use the correct product for the job.

Meguiar's OTC waxes may not "bead water" as long as a lot of the other sealants out there, but they definitely look better than a lot of them, and at a fraction of the cost.

Honestly, durability is not a factor I even consider when choosing a wax. Depth, shine, gloss, cost, feel, and ease of use are the only factors I consider. Think about it, how long do you really think, lets say 50 coats of Zaino will last with a nasty bird poo sitting on it? I've seen a bird bomb etch into the clear of a car protected with 3 coats of Zaino within a few hours...do you really think that your sealant will stand up to hard water spots from a sprinkler, which were left on the paint for a few days??? So what's the point?

Wash and wax often, durability is whack! :D

:goodpost: Darn good posting !!! I threw my two cents in also on this topic, Cant wait for the M205 the 105 still remains one of my favorite and will always be on my shelf...did I spell that correctly? Shelve anyway M205 should be another home run !!!

Name something other than a plastic tarp that bird poop won't etch into. Point is, Zaino is very reasonable to use - otherwise I couldn't afford to use it on my details. Does it look better, last longer and is slicker than anything Megs has? - yes - in my eyes - it does. I use M21 2.0 when I have a cheap detail and all they want is a wash/wax and couldn't tell if I used Souveran or Turtle wax. I tried M105 and was one of the few that thought it was too finicky to work with, M95 was much better IMHO, but Menzerna is a better polish line for me. Too bad FMJ is such a dissappointment in duribility.

I agree Zaino is very good stuff, I wasn't trying to bash it or any other product. My point was that regardless of how long a sealant is supposed to last; regular maintenance will always win over durability.

I find Meguiar's easy to use, it looks great, it's very cost effective, and in my testing, which included about 20 other peoples opinions, it was the clear winner.

That aside, use what works for you, as that is all that really matters. I think one can get very good results with any product, it's just a matter of dialing in how to use each one of them to it's full potential. ;)

FWIW, M105 has been reformulated to work with a DA. Should be less finicky now. The newer version will say it can be used with a DA on the back of the bottle.

Interesting test Rasky. I do details for a couple - she has a red Impala SS and he has a tan Buick. A year or so ago, I used the WG sealant on hers and DG 105 on his - fast forward 3 months, the DG still beaded and looked good after a wash. Now - that was the old Wolfgang, not the new one. But it proved to me that price doesn't always mean better. I like Megs 21 in that it plays well with whatever you polish with, and is cheap. Zaino needs ZAIO for a proper base - learned the hard way (you do NOT leave out that step!). But IMHO - it's worth the trouble.

I read about the new M105, I may try it again after my Menzrena Power Gloss runs out. But there again, 3M Extra Cut was mighty good!

Take care man, hope you have a good Christmas!
