Mercedes CLS63 AMG - Swirled out mess!

My issue with this is that how much CC did you remove to get this finish and how much protection if left on the car? I don't ever fully correct cars, especially cars that are driven...in the future when the car needs something fixed, there's nothing to work with.

half joking here, but be careful with these questions, haha. i asked a guy on here who did an sl63 (if i recall correctly) if he took measurements, just because i wanted to know...as he was saying the car had sanding marks and some damage from a previous detailer and he was going to be working the finish to remove the damage.

next thing i knew, he was in a CQF user group saying all of this stuff about me and that i accused him of removing the clear coat on the car or some sort of horse crap like that.

i literally asked him what he thought happened to the car previously (why the sanding marks) and if he took measurements. that's it.

I'd rather have those results than worry about it considering how hammered this vehicle was, and I'm speaking as if it was my own.

And if the owner users proper washing and care techniques it shouldn't need that degree of correction in the future. Or better yet, he can take it back to him to maintain it.

Absolutely stunning work! :dblthumb2:

Theres some serious love & attention in that detail & the results are incredible. Really nice work! Ha! The exhaust tips! Doh! Kinda a bummer he didn't give the OMG reaction but plenty of us here have & will! :props:

Beautiful car too! A shame it was so neglected in the first place but on the other hand - we got to view some outstanding detailing! Bravo HUMP!!! :dblthumb2:

Great save on that black beast! Curious to know what you used to re-apply the emblems with.

3M Super Strong adhesive tape, two widths cut down to match the inside of each letter.

You can also order these already, I cannot remember the link, but there is a company that sells it as a peel away with all the letters pre-cut.

builthatch, thanks for that reply. I don't mind discussing it and also telling this post that this is a detail that once finished, you specifically tell the owner that proper maintenance is the key to keeping the car this way and that in the future if it were to return to the original state that a re-paint is it.

That being said, I did check the panels and although there were many scratches, there was plenty of paint to work with for this one go round (Read my previous paragraph). We as professional detailers need to stress this to the clients that this type of resurrection detail can only really be performed maybe one time.

Also, this is why we coat. The primer and the Modesta coating add measurable thickness to the paint, so in the future, light scratches can be removed from the coating layer, saving the paint and clear layer from the damage, as well as oxidation.

I saw the transformation on your Instagram page. Amazing job my friend and protected with Modesta for the ultimate longest protection is always a plus. The primer is jut an absolute amazing product alone, it adds amazing gloss and protection.

Great work on the Benz.

Oh yeah, I also specifically went with BC-04, for the color and the additional hardness on this paint. He should be coming back on the 9th for the first wash.

Hump....very impressive work indeed!! Love it!

Excellent work.

Did you ask the owenr how the paint became so trashed in the first place?

:)

Mike, After doing the initial cleanse and seeing the actual condition of the paint, I text the owner to get some details, because I almost told him that I was not going to coat the car.
He is not the original owner, he himself had never taken the car to any car wash tunnel of swirls.
I can only assume that the previous owner did not care as much about this type of car as much as I do or the owner now will.
That being said, all of my coating packages have a "First wash" on me attached to them. That way I can make sure everything is holding up correctly and that the owner knows how to maintain the vehicle correctly.

quick q: that little silver strip on the trunk, above the plate - what do you prefer to do when those are trashed?

Sweet. I will look into that. Thanks.
