Met my competition today

This reminds me of the $1000 detail story I read from itsbetterwaxed or detailbox. Starts out about how this guy charged $1000 for details. Next thing you know, shop B says I'll do that job for 900, well then shop A drops to $800. Before you know it, what was a $1000 detail is now $600. Has the quality changed, in theory no, but now you have to detail 2 vehicles to earn the same amount, but since you did two jobs for $1200 in theory you lost $800!

Good for you if you get the business but set a price and stick to it. I used to play the I'll take any job to get some cash and my name out there. Now if its too much, sorry.

im in the he got what he paid for category. was the interior done also? IMO, if some one said, I only have 200. can you detail my car inside and out?. I would say yeah, here is what you get. blah blah blah...will not be the same quality work as I would do to a 500 job.

you get what im saying. gotta feel out the customer, and get expectation levels before starting. basicly can I satisfy this customer for this amount?

I mean it's competition but as said before don't undercut yourself just for one client. Maybe next time see the other guys work first offer to do a first car at a discount to win business. Tell them hey I detail and I'd like to get your business. Could I offer you 15% off on your first car to show what I am able to offer you?
