Metabo® PE 12-175 Circular Polisher
Autogeek.net website said:
This is the rotary polisher you’ve been waiting for.

The Metabo PE 12-175 is a German-made, professional quality circular buffer with incredible torque, rugged construction, and a powerful 1200 Watt motor – all packed into a surprisingly lightweight machine. If you’ve been waiting for the right machine to come along before stepping up to a rotary, the Metabo is the buffer you’ve been waiting for.

The Metabo PE 12-175 is a rotary (circular) polisher, meaning the pad spins at a high speed to level automotive paint quickly. Rotary polishers are the choice of most professional detailers because they are sometimes the only way to remove deep scratches and severe oxidation. Even if a detailer uses a dual action polisher most of the time, he has a rotary on hand for the tough jobs.

More and more detailers and hobbyists are discovering the Metabo and we can see why. The Metabo PE 12-175 is constructed in Germany entirely from German-made parts. Each machine is carefully assembled and tested for durability, load, and performance. (See the video below.) With your Metabo, you get these excellent features:

Metabo Marathon Motor - The unique winding protection and the epoxy powder coating on the coil windings make the motor completely impervious to harmful dust. The Metabo coil guard provides extra protection from the abrasive effects of workshop dust.

metabo-action2.jpg

Vario-Tacho-Constamatic (VTC) Full wave electronic
- The speed can be controlled continuously from minimum speed to maximum speed. The speed at rated load is same as speed at no load even under tough conditions of use and at very low controlled speeds.

Autostop Carbon Brushes – When the Autostop carbon brushes are worn, the power tool switches off automatically, thus preventing armature damage.

Restart Protection – The restart protection prevents the tool from starting unintentionally when being plugged in again or when power is restored after a power failure.

Ergonomic Front Cap – Ergonomic front cap for optimized machine guidance in continuous operation.

Spindle Locking Knob – Spindle lock for simple backing plate changes.

The Metabo PE 12-175 has variable speed settings from 700 rpm to 2200 rpm, which can be preset via the thumb-wheel. The speeds correspond to the settings as follows:

1 – 700 RPM waxing 4 – 1800 RPM leveling 2 – 1100 RPM polishing 5 – 2000 RPM compounding 3 – 1500 RPM leveling 6 – 2200 RPM compounding

The Metabo PE 12-175 is a real rotary machine. We always caution against novices using a rotary polisher because there is a chance of burning the paint. However, with practice the Metabo can be mastered quickly thanks to its light weight and low starting speed of 700 RPM. The machine weighs less than 6 lbs, which allows you to work for long periods with less fatigue compared to heavier machines. The ergonomic head allows you to grip the top of the machine and the base for better balance. An optional handle is included.

Use the Metabo on clear coated and single stage cars, gel coat boats and RVs, and aluminum trailers. The polisher eliminates flaws on any painted surface and leaves a smooth, swirl-free surface.

The Metabo PE 12-175 works with all Lake Country and Edge 2000 accessories. You do need to purchase a backing plate if you want to use the Metabo with Lake Country pads. Use the 7 Inch Hook & Loop Rotary Flexible Backing Plate with 8.5 inch pads. Use the 6 Inch Hook & Loop Rotary Flexible Backing Plate with 6.5 or 7.5 inch pads. If using the Edge 2000 system, you will need the Edge 2000 Drive Adapter 5/8” Thread (E-206). Both the 6 inch and 8 inch pads will work with this adapter.

The Metabo PE 12-175 is a robust, professional quality buffer for the removal of scratches, swirls, and oxidation. We highly recommend Menzerna products for the Metabo. These polishes are designed primarily for rotary application and the Metabo’s German engineering makes it the perfect choice. Work Menzerna Nano Polish at speed 2 to achieve a brilliant high gloss. Turn it up to 4 to apply Menzerna Intensive Polish. The Metabo quickly and easily levels paint imperfections and creates a high luster.

When you’re shopping for a rotary polisher, look for one that is lightweight, well-built, powerful, and dependable. The Metabo PE 12-175 fits the bill.

Is this the rotary thats known as the "Rolls Royce" of polishers? Been looking at rotaries and this one seems to be at the top for reviews.

Surfer - a bit of no·men·cla·ture correction. Since the Metabo PE 12-175 Circular Polisher is made in Germany, I feel it more appropriate not to call it the Rolls Royce, but rather the Mercedes Benz of polishers.
Like wise, I would call the Makita rotary the Lexus of rotary's.
Couldn't resist on this one. Just having some word fun with you bro.

And yes, I have my own Metabo PE 12-175 which I purchased in June of this year.

Delighted to see that Autogeek now is a source for the Metabo. Way to go Autogeek!

Cheers,
Larry B

I bought one last month also. When you purchase one just make sure you have good heavy extension cord that run just the Motabo on it, if not it will over heat when run on lower speeds settings. It does have a thermal shut down and light on the side that shows when is running to hot. Other than that it is really a nice machine and 100% satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

Dennis is right...any polishing or buffing machine should have a dedicated cord...one of the problems of people complaining the PC over heats is they have a cheap cord...get a contractors grade cord....will help alot....The Metabo wants clean power..so if you get one invest in a quality extension also...12 guage or better

Looks like a rotary I wanna own. Kinda pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I have owned a metabo for a while now, and I love the machine! Is great!! We are best friends now, and she even lets me use her with one hand ;)

I love the feel of my metabo over the larger and heavier rotaries.

Calm down. You got enough stuff to last you a couple of months. By that time AG should have all the new products for Menzerna line.;)

Oh I hope so supercharged, because these products are wicked. The new Menzerna products I just received are my own personal stash and I will not be using it for other vehicles besides mine...well unless my friends vehicles come in for a detail :D

Went for the Hitachi because of the price, if AG had this sucker sooner, maybe I would of bit the bullet

I have an Hatachi and a Metabo. There both great rotaries but I like the feel and the very light weight Metabo better.
