Both units have the ability to modulate velocity

The Auto version (MB-3CD) accomplishes this by powering up one or two motors.

The Pet version (MB-3V) also has two motors, but adds a knob to throttle down for small dogs.

I suspect that most MasterBlaster owners use their machine full blast and therefore the variable control is irrelevant.

The Pet version is almost $200 more expensive and comes with a shorter (10') hose.

The MB-3CD unit, that you're calling the "auto version", is one of the pet versions.
What you're calling the "pet version"---MB-3V---can also be used as an auto version.

You're the one that decides if: "the price is right"
for any particular MB unit.

Thanks for indirectly nudging me to make the measurement, and it only took a couple minutes to do.

I have to admit I was surprised it was that high.

I have 20A circuits in the garage where I use it most, but have used it a couple times in the house on 15A circuits to blow some cobwebs out of the corners of high ceilings, and it did trip the breaker sometimes. Those are pretty short duration uses though.

That's the one I have Allen! It's a dedicated car blower. :props:

I've used it without the final little piece in it, thinking it'd have more airflow and I'd like it better. WRONG! That final piece increases velocity noticeably.

Does the MB work better? I'm betting YES IT DOES! Can I dry anything I want with this thing? Yes I can! There is always something you go back over, a little here, a little there, but it does a very good job. Best $70 I ever spent I can tell you that for sure.:dblthumb2:

(FWIW if I want even more velocity I can put a finger over the end.) ;)

I got the 4HP unit, seems to work plenty fine for me and I don't have to keep checking circuit breakers sizes.
 
^^ I received the 4 HP from autogeek as a Christmas gift from my wife. It's the orange unit and I've used a couple times prior to rinseless wash (blasting off the winter debris with pw prior to rinseless). Just what I expected....very satisfied considering price.
 
I picked up an electric leaf blower from HD for light snow removal in my sidewalk. I plan on using it for drying as well. Mine blows at 250mph. Blew 5in of snow off of my Infiniti in about 2 mins

I have one as well it's awesome and if you don't run it on its own 20 amp breaker it will trip your circuits. We do a lot of motorcycle detailing and couldn't imagine life without it. (Regardless) of wind speed coming out of the hose)
