Hey guys, I have a question about MF pads. I have recently had VERY good success on my vehicle (2011 Mercedes-Benz GLK 350) with Menzerna FG400 for the major correction step. I have only used it on foam pads though, both LC Hydrotech (5.5" Cyan) and CG Hex Logic (5.5" Orange) using my PC 7424XP with 5" backing plate I got from CGs. Both produced fantastic results.
However, before I tried FG400, I purchased the 5.5" Black Optics Microfiber pads from Chemical Guys (both cutting & polishing), but haven't used/tried them yet. So I was wondering if anyone who has had experience on this issue can help me out with some advice. I was figuring that using the FG400 with the MF pads may be too aggressive, as my understanding of MF pads is that they have more cut than foam. However I do have Menzerna SI 1500 (PO83) also in my collection. I also have Menzerna SF4500 as a finishing polish, as well as V34, V36 & V38 from CGs (which I haven't touched since I found Menzerna).
So I'm wondering if the SI 1500 on the orange MF cutting pad would produce the same or similar results I got with FG400 & foam???
Could I possibly still use the FG400, but with the less aggressive black MF polishing pad???
What would be the best finishing combo with the above listed products after the major correction step???
I should also mention that I have a small 100psi air compressor with blow gun attachment, so I will have that available for on-the-fly cleaning of the MF pads.
I know some of you would say to just stick with the foam because its a combo that I already know works, but I'm just wondering if using the MF could produce just as good if not better results, or maybe even easier/quicker results (i.e. require less downward pressure, fewer passes).
Your advice is appreciated!
