Michigan/Midwest "Detail Fest" for Summer 2011?

There has been some mention of interest in a detailing meet this summer, so I thought I'd start a thread to see if we can decide on a good time/date and location, and also see how many people would show up.

Two of the major events in Michigan for the summer, the Concours d'Elegance of America in Plymouth and the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, are on July 31st and August 20th respectively... would organizing an event around the time of those events be preferable?

I welcome anyone's thoughts! Depending on how many people are interested we could look into having seminars/classes from some of the pros in attendance, a car show, etc.

I'd be up for that, haven't been at woodward since I sold my Mustang
 
Not sure about the dates 7/31 and 8/20 they are really to close to plan and do a good job IMO. The idea of a mini detail fest sounds great and think that we could really start something. Just my thoughts.

I would think that planning now for next year. Also they have said that the Flint Brickyard Auto Show has been getting better.

Any other Michigan members ?? What do you think. Feed back please
 
woodward sounds good to me and i would definitely try to make it out....I need as much help and guidance i can get.

Btw see you are out lansing about an hour away...if you feel like giving me some lessons on using the rotary i have a couple cars we can work on

That is a good point; maybe if we want to set up a formal event that includes seminars/etc. it would have to be next year... but we can certainly plan a meet for this year anyway.

Sounds like so far Woodward is in the lead with regard to interest level.
 
How about Frankenmuth? That's a great show and a little less crowded than Woodward.

Looks like 2012 is going to be the year to do it; I hear rumor that we'll be having a Midwest DetailFest with seminars (sponsored by 3D/Autopia.org).

In the meantime, I will be at NAIAS in Detroit on Sunday, January 15th if anyone wants to meet up there.

Guess I'm not familiar with that event; been to Frankenmuth many times but never for a car show.
 
Well obviously my job didn't work out and I'll be here. Just don't ask me to bring samples.
 
I am just an enthusiast . I am from Mi. and would be very interested in this. :dblthumb2:
