Microfiber towel Lint

I’ve used several glass towels Rag company, speed master, waffle weaves. Used with a few different cleaners, McKee’s, Stoners invisible, sprayaway. Zep beats them all.

As said before have to rinse couple times and wring them hard and they work well.

I’m currently using the other products on the outside and the Zeps on inside till I run out of products

How many Zep Cloths do you have? And how do you wash them?

Never have had any issues with the waffle weave style on my Windows. I use the “Dry Me A River” 16x16” from The Rag Company and it is the best I have used on glass for cleaning and nothing left behind.

As I was driving tonight I noticed some imperfections on the interior of my windshield where I used the Zap Cloth... There were streaks/cheetah marks where you could see the marks of my hand. This was caused by uneven pressure as I was reaching over from the passenger side thinking a quik simple pass would suffice.

It appears the Zap Cloth is only as good as the effort you put into it, no half arseing it.

I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Sounds like there is a learning curve

I used the Zap Cloth some more last night... I used it to clean the rest of the windows on my Cadillac except the exterior windshield and exterior rear glass and the looks of the towel should give you and idea of the layer of soot that was on the interior rear glass + the interior side of the rear doors which had spent who knows how long underneath the pull up visors.

I cleaned the exterior of the front and back glass with my squeegee because I wanted to spare the Zap Cloth from possibly becoming Fubar with so much grime.

And even after picking up that much grime with the cloth and it passing the eye test in the darkness of my driveway, as soon as I went for a short drive to the gas station to get a better view in different lighting there were streaks, flaws, and alot of leftover grime especially on the inside of my back window and I had missed alot of the corners everywhere.

Working in the dark is never a good idea if you’re expecting great results but I still can’t help ducking lots of points after seeing what the Zap Cloth can’t handle because I put alot of elbow grease into my rear window and it was now a streaky grimy mess.

The Zap Cloth is far from perfect. I know expecting anything to be perfect is a tall order, but this makes me look at the cloth as more of a finisher than a cleaning towel where it will quickly load up with dirt.

What do you guys think? Am I right? Or were my windows extraordinarily dirty?

Yeah i agree. If your keeping up with it it’s fine product as I do windshield every couple of weeks. If theirs been neglect it isn’t going to be great but a griots glass towel and invisible glass foam won’t get it all in one pass.

Neglected glass I go cleaner and glass towel. Wipe down again with damp but thoroughly dried MF do all windows and then last a Zep. Then maintain once or twice a month with Zep.

If you do follow up with Zep as finisher make sure to wipe first with other MF. Always a little cleaner residue left and the ZEP just smears it around. Maybe it would dry away I don’t give it a chance

I own GG glass towels, Speedmaster glass towels, and some generic glass towels from the AG outlet section, and they all perform about the same. That is, I have found the only way to get really clean windows is to use one towel to do the cleaning and then use a second dry towel to do a final buff.

As for the Zap, I did a little research on them and everybody and their brother is reselling them under Zap, KAYWOS, and other names (KAYWOS seems to be the parent for these "zero fiber" towels). Kinda reminds me of people selling "sea monkeys".

I definitely agree that the Zap Cloth is more of a finisher. I use it strictly for the haze on the interior windows. I use a waffle weave or a microber towel with Invisible Glass to remove heavy grime. For removing haze and streaks, I would say that the Zap Cloth is perfect. For heavy grime and cleaning, not so perfect.

Right on, thanks for the feedback.. And yea the reason I chose to go with the Zap Cloth on my rear interior window was mainly due to the defogger lines and not wanting to go heavy duty on them which normally I would’ve went straight for something like a Magic Eraser, but no way I wanted to go that aggro over those defogger lines on the glass.

I’ll throw the Zap Cloth in with my next load of microfiber wash and continue trying it out, next time as a finisher and expect it to perform nicely.

Not any mf glass towel or Zep Cloth or any else that you clean glass with. As soon as it's not able to be holding up the dirt it picks up it starts to streaking with dirt left behind. And yeah your glass looked very dirty LOL. Would be very interesting to see if and how the Zep Cloth did if you rinsed it out and if it released the dirt easy that way to keeping being able to pick up some more dirt. I think though that you would need to be useing as many mf glass towels as you are needed as many Zap Cloths in general when you clean glass. So you have enough of clean surface with what you cleaning with to pick up the amount of dirt you have on the glass. But it's nature of how the Zap Cloth works seems to be suited to do light cleaning and finishing cleaning on glass. If you have enough of them they may have gotten you clean results. Just as many mf glass towels that you would have needed I think. So it's not a bad product at all the Zep Cloth it seems from all of the different experiences people here have with it. I use around 5-6 mf glass towels that are the no nap style if I do not so dirty of glass both inside and outside on the Kia cee'd station wagon I have.

In the daytime you could literally see a yellow tinge almost as if the rear window had yellow tinted window film on it. I knew it would be a chore that’s why I took so long to get around to touching it + we all know cleaning the rear interior window is a PITA that no one likes to do. Lol

I always have a fear that my knee is somehow going to rip a hole in the leather seats while I’m cleaning the rear window. Lol

Have you tried McKee's 37 2020 Cockpit Glass Cleaner? It's pretty good at removing the film left by whatever it was on the interior glass. Then it's easy to maintain after that.
For some reason I couldn't locate it on AG after searching for 2020 but it is on McKee's website if you want to read about it.

Yeah the inside windows on sedans is a PITA to clean LOL. Do you have any of the glass cleaning tools like the Stoner Invisible Glass Reach and Clean Tool. They have a newer version that has another shape of the pad that's extra in the kit with this one. I have another one and usually wrap the mf glass towel I use around it when I clean a friends car sedan that's a PITA to clean the back inside window. It gets a little more easier this way but it's still a PITA LOL. And they works great to get down to the edge of the inside of the windshield too. Which also can be hard to get all the way down to. With the glass cleaner tool being thin it works great on the lower parts of the inside of the windshield. The same with the low angle inside of the back windows. Clean as far as I reach the normal way then use the glass cleaner tool to get the rest works okay there too. And with the handle you don't need to be pressing that hard down with your knees in the leather seat.

Stoner Invisible Glass Reach & Clean Tool

I wait always too long before cleaning the inside of the glass. So it gets dirtier than needed to be. The Sonax Glass Cleaner really helps me with it's strong cleaning ability. And as long as you flip and refold the glass mf towel. So the streaks left on the glass has no dirt in it. It flashes off clean and streak free even when you see it fogs.

Another tips is that when you see your inside windshield especially gets very foggy and it takes time for the heater to dry it. Change your cabin filter and the heater and the AC will be working much better after that. Don't know if you a cabin filter in your Cadillac though. And also if you have a manual AC turn it on to dry the fog up faster. This is a problem where I live when even the ACC don't have the AC on when it's getting close to the freezing point. So most ACC turns it on when you start the defroster setting but some you need to be starting manually. A lot of fog usually accumulate dirt easier.

I don’t have the Cockpit Cleaner, but I do have the McKee’s Glass Restoring Polish, however I still wouldn’t risk using it on the rear window because of the defroster veins than are lined along the glass.. I know it’s probably safe, but I don’t want to risk it so I’ll do it regular style even if it takes a few times.

Right, this one is more of a polish for glass and I would not chance using it on the defroster either. The other does all the lifting via chemicals and does not require abrasion to clean. You spread it, let it haze up, wipe away.

Aye but seriously, I do actually have something similar to that Invisible Glass tool you have... Except I have the El Cheapo version.

There’s no way I was gonna pay $25 bucks when I found this at the 99 cent store for only $1! El Cheapo!

It probably doesn’t have the same quality feel compared to your $25 version, which is probably why I’ve never really used it, but I do have it way in the back of the rest of my detailing stuff just in case I wanna look like a badass in front of a customer or 1 of my nosey neighbors. Lol.
