My 2004 Accord V6 EX-L has 147,000. Few weeks ago I was driving along on the freeway when the car in front of me swerved quickly to avoid a chunk of truck tire in the middle of the lane. He didn't swerve enough - his car hit the tired and flung it up in the air just so that it hit the hood of my car. Of course, I have liability-only on my car, so insurance is no help.
Went to a trusted body shop to get an estimate. For them to repair the hood, and re-paint the hood and the bumper cover, is gonna be $1075.
Would you pay to have the car fixed?
It's my daily driver. I need to keep it for 30 more months until my wife's car is paid off. Other than this damage the car is in very good condition with no other defects at all. I was, in fact, getting ready to go over this vehicle with some compound right before this happened.
Just looking for advice or viewpoints that I haven't considered.
(FYI, KBB for this car in fair condition is $5000, in very good condition it's worth $6400)
