Hey all,

What are some items you feel are REQUIRED to have when you go out and do mobile jobs? I think based on the market here where I live the most lucrative (and lowest cost) option is to do mobile jobs.

Right now for required mobile stuff I have:

ONR
16 Gal Wet/Dry Vac
Pro level spray bottles (Meg's Professional is the brand)
3 Five gallon buckets

etc.

I understand the products I need (higher end waxes, polishes, etc.), but I'm talking in the sense of equipment I need to get the job done in the first place. My list of "to get" items so far is:

Work Truck
Shampoo Vacuum (Is that the right name)
Pressure Washer...?
Buffer
Upgrading products as I go

water tank/pressure washer set up
air compressor
carpet extractor or steamer
rotary
canopy
cooler full of refreshments(it gets hot working mobile)

That's one thing I alway pack, some food to because you can't leave easily and go to lunch.

Heavy Duty Extension Cords, you don't want to run any type of electric polisher on a light duty cord.

Bags or plastic containers to store your clean microfiber towels and something for dirty towels, a Heavy Duty Garbage bag will work, it will keep them clean and give you a place to place them after use.

A canopy to create shade

5-gallon buckets and Bungee Cords. You can fill the buckets with water to create 40 pound weights to hold the canopy down in windy areas and when you're done just dump the water out and stack the buckets inside themselves for smaller storage space needed.


Sandwich Board on the sidewalk to advertise to neighbors and passerbys with your name, phone and website... or on the side of your vehicle which should look spotless if you're going to have signage on it.

Extra business cards and a one-page flyer with a list of your services...

Beach Towel

Utility Stand for tall roofs is a lot safer than standing on a 5-gallon bucket or plastic crate...

:) You saw my other postings...I'm definitely working on that. I got a local guy from Nationwide who seems very interested in getting me insured, so I should have that by tomorrow or Thursday.

No licensing is required in Louisville for Mobile detailing either.

mike, where can i get those utility stands. i lug around much larger step ladders ie giant ladder system safety step ladder. thanks dave
 
I see, so something like this can be used for interior fabrics of all kinds, leather, and interior plastics without harm to the electronics?

Yes. Even works great on glass.
 
I just saw a video of it in action and before/after pics... I'm definitely saving up for this. Very nice!!!
 
I think it goes without saying,but you do need some clients that will pay for your services. The best equipment & products are great to have.But if you don't have business it's a waste!

You are exactly right. My #1 priority above all of this is advertising! I already have some connections when it comes to printing so I should be able to get it at a discount.

Home Depot / Lowes / or basically anyplace that carries ladders will have them.

If i remember correctly they are not all that pricey, $30-$40. I could be wrong on that so don't hold me to the price.
