Mobile detailing: a trailer; a van; a pickup truck or a little truck

yes indeed, I'm from Europe. I forget that it has a different meaning :)

I won't be using a trailer, as then I need to buy a car that can tow it + a trailer and insurance for both. Maybe when business grows.

Here in Europe, the Pickup trucks are very small, even compared to a colorado... So I doubt I'll have enough room.
I think I'll start with a decent van, and maybe look into a pickup truck + trailer later on, when the big jobs come in some more...

I wouldn't do a trailer either, just too much to mess with. It'd be great if you had a large commercial account with at least 6 or 7 more preferably 10 or more vehicles at a time. Add a roll out awning and It'd make it literally a mobile shop on wheels. :) Even providing you the ability to leave it 'on site' and move your tow vehicle elsewhere. ;)

Yes I agree that the cars over there are miniscule by 'our' standards. First time we ever saw a Smartcar was in Germany in 2006. It was a Police car and I was with a group of 5 teenagers, myself and a teacher. We looked at it, and then said to each other, "lets pick this thing up and turn it 90°". The cops had a laugh at it.

I hear ya', and remember the thread on picking the right car for your new wrap. Your rigs are BY FAR the best way to promote, protect, and provide for your business image to the general public. (Not to mention how much better they help you do your job.) ;)

any pics or thread with pics about the setup in one of these?

it just seems easy to have many products with you, so you can never forget something or run out of something. If you don't take everything with you, you might forget something when your loading the truck everyday. Or I know I will :D
But on the other hand, if you don't need half of it, it's a lot of fuel consumption for nothing, which goes off the profits...

@VisualPro: do you have a smaller watertank in your Dodge Ram just to fill some buckets for the rinseless or nothing at all?

I believe having "it" and not needing it is preferable to needing it and not having it. Spending a few cents more to transport something you don't use this time is cheaper than having to drive somewhere to get what you need.

Right now I'm using my daily driver car to detail out of but I'd rather have a van or pickup truck.

As far as bringing your own water, I've been in a couple of situations where having my own water supply would have been preferable to using the customer's. One customer lived in the country and had well water which was very hard. Another customer had to use pliers to turn on or off the water spigot.

you guys are forgetting is its not what you want but what best fits your needs at the time.. start small and move on up

the ford transit is really nice.. but the price tag for starters does not justify the buy

Im going to start mobile or at a temp location. All i have is my volvo wagon....im concerned that it wont be enough. Im fine unless i need to tow. Do you know if i will need to tow a water tank or anything?

I use my f350 haven't gotten a cover for it yet so I don't store anything what a pain because I live on the third floor lol. I was considering a van or a trailer but idk I'm not sure which way I'm going with my business yet.

I just purchased a Dodge Caravan (7 passenger) today. I would love to see more pictures of your detailing vans so I can come up with a nice looking wrap for mine. I don't know if I will go with a full wrap, they are pretty expensive. On the other hand it's good advertizing so I might just go for it ;)

If you have pictures of your vehicles, please post ;)
