Mobile Van Water Tank...i forgot something

Anyone? I've been trying to research this, and can't find a definitive answer. I'm planning to build a very basic mobile wash trailer this year, and have been wondering whether I need to plan for a primer pump. I intend to use a Honda GX160 (5.5hp) as the motor for the pressure washer, with a direct drive pump. The engine will be mounted on the trailer along with the water tank. Will I need an electric pump to feed the motor/pressure pump?

Gas powered PWs don't need a pump only electric ones.
You don't have to elevate your tank either.

I think volume will always be more important than the pressure in this case (just use a flex line or something that will not collapse if the pressure washer pulls a vacuum on the tank).

I use a flotek 3gpm 12 volt electric pump. wired to the van battery with a switch.
it puts out almost 3 gpm and runs 50psi.
I do not have a long hose for my pressure washer so i take it out of the van and have a 50 foot garden hose on a spool. i can put water wherever i need it.

Think about sheeting the car when you are done, it cannot be done with a pressure washer and it cannot be done without a lift pump.

I had a gas powered honda with a CAT pump fed by a 100 gallon tank and I did not need anything other than the pressure washer itself and it worked great.

I have a troybilt pw ,vertical pump,and with a honda motor . It hooked up to a 100 gallon tank and works fine off of just gravity . Now if I can find away to keep the water from freezing up at night. I would be mych better.

That one should work. There is a lot of info & questions/answers about this topic on northern tool. Just go into their pressure washer section & lookup the pressure washer you are looking at & you will get a lot of info on it.

We may be using same tank (35 gallons),lol using for test waters (Mobile) right now if by mid summer all works well may upgrade to larger tank
 
hi what is the 12v pump for, to feed the water to the pressure washer? do you need that? also where do you get the power from to power the pump? thanks in advance.

hi what type of filter system is that?
 
this pump is 120v - they do make 12v also . I choose the 120v as I use this out of garage in apartment or use my generator if mobilized . I guess 12v would work too but I did not want to worry about battery usage and charging ..... . the pressure washer I use does not pull standing water . some do - so the pump is need to supply the pressure washer from the tank , or if I don't use the pressure washer it supplies water almost as good as coming out the spigot . the filter is a single cr spotless .
 
Just as a side note here I talked to one of the true experts in the pressure washer industry and he told me that the idea of a "self-priming" is really a myth. Very few non commercial grade extremely high end gas pressure washers can pull from standing water.

If you are needing sufficient water pressure, a pump will be needed out a mobile water source.

Thanks for insight I was also thing of purchasing something of this nature but will hold off until further research
