More aggressive compound or pad?

I know there's vids here as well as YouTube. Griot's has easy to understand and entertaining vids, check em' out.

What machine are you using, maybe the speed is a bit too low but one things for sure, watch the vids, pick up some pointers and you'll get it, trust me/us.

This is a project that I've wanted to do for years. I now have the time since I retired late last year. I've been using my Porter Cable for waxing, and paint cleansing.
With the help from this forum, and Mike Phillips, I had the confidence to take on this project. I had to watch some of Mike's videos again to refresh my memory.

Slow speed ,fire that thing up to 6 work a 2 by 2 area with not that much pressure ,good amount of product ,still not pleased ,use blackfire src compound,or a diminishing compound medium cut ,then polish

If 6 is the highest I would advise against it but I'm just a backyard hobbyist👈

The one thing I've done from the start is a speed 6. Mike and other members suggested 15 pounds of pressure on the PC. That did it, but still required 2 sets of passes. A couple of spots required 3 passes.

I would skip the glaze if doing some what of a paint correction ,and go to polishing ,glaze is just a filler

Are you suggesting that I use the Meg 205 that I mentioned in my original post?
What would be different?

The Wolfgang Finishing Glaze is a finishing polish, not a glaze:props:

Use a polish like 205 or the car pro line ,don't need to do a finishing polish glaze it's just a extra step ,only required if u want to go crazy with this project,or a show car finish.menzera polishes are great to,so much to choose from those are pretty much ur standard go to polishes with out making a decision and going stir crazy, good luck.

Again, I think he is talking about Wolfgang Finishing Glaze. Despite the name, this is a finishing polish along the lines of Meg 205. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0, Wolfgang finishing polish, polising glaze, machine glaze

When using the WG finishing glaze, I noticed some black dust. Normal?

The Wolfgang finishing glaze is purple in color, never seen black dust while using. What pad are you using? Did you tape around trim?

Using a blue pad,and I did tape. It wasn't much, and I only noticed when doing the horizontal surfaces. Not enough to notice on the side of the car.

Is it possible that the pad came in contact with black rubber window trim?

This could darken the polish residue

Was there a black ring around the outside of your pad?

Just a theory

No contact with the trim, but I'm now wondering if it's from the gaps around the hood.

That's a very true statement. I've done the exact same thing. Sometimes even changing the amount of liquid I put on the pad gave me the results I wanted.

Sometimes we get ahead of ourselves, and rush to find the "silver bullet" that does what we want, when we want. Sometimes the answer is right there in our hands, and we don't even see it.

Where is the "Like" button?

The Z4 is done, except for the mirrors! Is it perfect? No. Does it look damn near perfect? Yes. I did the entire car at least twice. Some panels, such as the hood and trunk were done three times with a orange pad. The finishing glaze was done on the entire car once with a blue pad. The hood and trunk I did twice to remove some rain marks that happened after I was finished.

Happy to hear Ztandem! It's a great feeling doing that yourself too.

It does give me a sense of accomplishment when I look at my results. I was definetly anxious about doing it when I started. I even looked into buying a BMW panel to practice on, until I found out it would cost at least $150 at a junk yard.
While I didn' t work on the car everyday, it must have taken me about 40 hours total to do it.
Earlier this week, I ordered the Klasse AIO and sealant to finish my car for this year. Another new experience with Klasse!
