Late last week we introduced several new products from Detailer's Pro Series - How To: Restore & Protect Headlights with Detailer's Total Headlight Restoration Kit

I mentioned in the article that as any loyal employee would do, I went searching in the parking lot for nasty, oxidized, sun-faded headlights. Since we're located in South Florida, that wasn't difficult to find.

I managed to find even more dull, cloudy, discolored headlight lenses to put Detailer's All In One Headlight Restoring Polish, part of the Total Headlight Restoration Kit, to the test.

Check out the headlights on this Toyota RAV4:

A couple drops of Detailer's All In One Headlight Restoring Polish on a Lake Country Thin Foamed Wool Pad is a recipe for clear, restored headlight lenses.

Just like I did for the Avalon, I protected the newly restored headlights on the RAV4 with Detailer's Headlight Protectant Spray.

Still really impressive with NO sanding. Looking forward to mine coming in here on Wednesday! I ordered the kit.

Wow that is impressive! Without the sanding steps it would be a huge time saver.

I stopped offering headlamp resto work, PITA with all the sanding. Is that pad available for a DA or rotary?

Mike,
I sanded the headlights on my son's van three years ago and applied the UV Sealer-Helmsman Spar Urethane(Indoor/Outdoor)Clear Gloss mixed with Mineral Spirits afterwards. It lasted over two and a half years but now its time to redo the headlights again.
My question is, will the Detailer’s Total Headlight Restoration Kit remove what's left of the urethane/mineral spirits mixture? Or would I have to resort to using sandpaper again to get the mixture off then continue with the Detailer's Kit?

How about replacement pads?

We got 'em. :dblthumb2:

It can be used with either or.

I'm assuming you meant to address your question to me (Nick) since I'm the creator of the thread. I'll go ahead and answer it for you. :props:

I'm not familiar with the hardness of the aforementioned coating that you applied, but I would imagine that the abrasiveness of the polish paired with the mechanical cutting ability of the wool pad would cut through it. Give it a try, and if it doesn't work, you can always lightly sand it.

Opps, Sorry Nick.
My bad, Didn't have my morning coffee. lol

Some of the old UV urethane/mineral spirits mixture has worn off from the lens. So the DP Headlight Restoration just might work.
Thanks for your reply.

You got it!

Any reason this wouldn't work to bring some luster back to taillights and remove fine scratches? Oxidation isn't as obvious on taillights but put a car with some age next to a brand new car and there's a difference in the clarity and brightness of the lens.

Fantastic Nick!!

Thanks Mike. :)

All In One Headlight Restoring Polish will definitely remove swirl marks and light scratches from plastic. You can use a less aggressive pad (orange or white foam) to remove the swirls while creating brilliant clarity.

Cool!

Well the mail lady should be bringin' it later this afternoon and I'll get right to it!

So what's going to protect better, the headlight protectant spray in the kit or DP paint coating? I want to say the paint coating is better since I have it already lol, but not sure how much UV protection there is in DPPC

Can I buy just the BP and wool pad?
If so can you provide me with a link ?

Another great job Nick:dblthumb2:

Detailer's Paint Coating will last longer, thanks to its nano-glass ceramic formula.
