Mothers CMX vs Sonax Polymer Net Shield long term durability test

So where does this leave us? It's supposed to rain again hopefully tomorrow or next week. I'll assess how they continue, come summer if CMX degrades further, I'll polish and go back to PNS and BSD combo. Or try Cquartz UK3.0.

I'll still test CMX against Megs HCW on another outdoor vehicle soon.

PNS just wouldn't let the blue color water or water stay. Pretty good side by side here. Water just streams and rolls off easily.

If you like PNS then try their CC36 coating. It’s a notch above PNS.

CQUK 3.0 is great as well.

Thanks Guz I remember your detailed CC36 write up and review. I'm liking UK3.0 since its "updated" and just one product to apply vs the base coat and gloss coat CC36 comes with. Mainly due to borrowing a garage..

Does CQUK bead and act a lot more aggressively than PNS?

Will be interesting to follow your progress of this testing. Sure is surprising results from CMX. PNS works as expected as it's has one of the most extreme water behavior for a sealant and a longevity that is tried and proved.

Just passed the 1 month mark. Drove through a light rain storm. Car had some dust and dirt from every day driving.

CMX left side, PNS right

PNS continues to have tighter beading. On trunk lid you can see where PNS pushes the water off, CMX has it kind of sit there.

I will try to wash the trunk lid and hood soon with N914 to see how beading refreshes.

Sounds like the CMX is a disappointment. Regardless of the beading, it doesn't sound like it is protecting the paint that well either.

I agree, started off very strong and then disappointed.

It seems to still be doing well on front windshield, even after a lot of wiper use. Vertical panels are doing well too.

Here is a video I finally got to work! Sorry for crappy video shooting but was raining when I took it. Was taken Feb 23, 2019

Both sides equally as dirty. Wanted to wash tonight, but supposed to possibly rain over next 2 days so may wait. That way I can see if they are able to disperse of the dirt/grime.

I forgot how much more dirt shows on white vs my old red car.

I noticed that CMX doesn’t have as good self cleaning capabilities as I was hoping it would.
That being said, I ripped it with Ech2o, and that has some serious self cleaning capabilities.

You have no idea how bad I am tempted to just wash with Ech2o and go on with my life lol. But I do it for you, the Autogeeks.

I'm going to try adding a small amount of Megs HCW to my Ech2o detailer, see how that does.

So after a month here is what I’ve come up with for an opinion. I’m trying to take into account forest said this last for months and months.

We as geeks aren’t impressed due to the beading and self cleaning on horizontal panels. If it didn’t fall on its face after 2 weeks, which a reset wash or n914 may help who knows, but it’s safe to say we wouldn’t use this as a stand-alone with expectations to reach the 6 month mark.

With that said i think jo blow in his driveway with his destroyed swirled out paint won’t notice and will enjoy the product. I would guess this is who the product was initially designed for as we all have way better kool aid we have sipped.

I myself feel Megs UFF is better and will stay with that for a sealant. That or 845/476/915

I was initially interested in either PNS or CMX but kinda put off CMX now, maybe I should be looking at something like CanCoat or maybe even TAC Moonlight.

The search function is great but also throws up so many decisions, just when I`m set on one product another slips right on in there.
