Mothers/meguiers wheel cleaners

It seems like when I spray a tire the product foams up inside the bottle, and I can't do more than one tire at a time, I bought two bottles recently and they both did that. Oh and I did buy a bottle of your spray wax and it is amazing!

You may have a defective sprayer... though two in a row is odd. Some foaming inside the bottle is normal (and it eventually settles), but it sounds like you may have an issue.

Please email me.

To better spread the product, use a sweeping motion while spraying, and as Bunky noted, spread it with a brush.

I've always had issues with the Mothers w/t cleaner. Very poor efficiency; I go through a bottle on 8 tires.

Eagle 1 has been my jam for a while now. I get at least 3 cars done, 4-5 if I use it only for tires. Pulls contaminants out and leaves a clean, satin look without damaging the rims (one time a little leaked out from behind a center cap and dried on the rim after rinsing; no damage!).

However, I suggest buying a wheel cleaner in bulk on the Black Friday sale. Buying OTC gets expensive over time.

With regard to buying mothers foaming wheel and tire cleaner in bulk, buying the 24oz size OTC is cheaper per oz than the gallon size linked above.

I've been using CGs Sticky Wheel Cleaner for a few years now for this type of wheel cleaner (pH basic). I bought a gallon for about $35 and it dilutes like 1:5. So; you get 6 gallons of wheel cleaner for $35.

Now, if I recall - these Mothers / Megs OTC Wheel cleaners are about 22oz a bottle. So, I'm getting 768 oz of wheel cleaner (diluted) for my $35. Coincidently, that comes out to about 35 bottles of 22oz wheel cleaner.

Meaning, instead of spending $8 or so for 22 oz of OTC wheel cleaner; I'm spending a single dollar for 22oz. I'll put CG's Sticky Wheel Cleaner (diluted) up against any OTC non acid /non iron targeting wheel cleaner and it will smoke 'em. Use it with a foaming sprayer for tons of foam and cling to the wheel.

Since I know I'm only spending a single dollar a bottle - I have no problem using it quite liberally.

What do use for tires then? Tuff shine?

You can use the CG's Sticky on most tires. It's as aggressive as any APC out there IMHO. It's pH is right up there with most APCs (~11-12) - even though CG's advertises it as "pH neutral". But I still do a deep cleaning with TS every so often.

For a real pH neutral wheel cleaner I like Griot's green wheel cleaner.

I totally agree. It would cost an arm and a leg to buy Mothers Foaming Tire and Wheel cleaner this way. The price is crazy high for a gallon. By the time you buy it and ship it....its much much cheaper to buy over the counter.

I have used the Mother's Wheel and Tire cleaner and like it a lot. I spray it on the wheels and tires and agitate to spread. Works like a champ for me. For wheels with heavy brake dust issues, I use GG wheel cleaner, it is color changing and attacks iron fairly well. I save it for wheels with bad build up, as it is on the expensive side, it is available OTC at the Auto Zone near me. But for everyday use, I have had no issues with the Mother's at all.

I can't knock the product itself either. Its just crazy that its cheaper to buy the OTC bottles than the gallon.
