Ok guys... I work at P&G and someone was talking about a customer complaint with one of our Car Wash locations....

My first thought.... We have car wash locations???

Apparently there are 4 Mr. Clean car wash locations around the US (one just 10 minutes away from me in Cincy oddly enough). Now here is where I got really confused...

Their top "detailing" service is "Mr Clean Shine Machine"... Here is the description of this from their website ( Home - Mr. Clean Car Wash )...

"Mr. Clean Shine Machine express service cannot be duplicated by hand. This super gentle machine polishes your car beautifully in about 8 minutes following your wash. For a shine you will love, give it a try!"

What type of machine can polish a car in 8 minutes??????? :buffing:

"What type of machine can polish a car in 8 minutes???????"

Every machine can polish a car in 8 minutes....it just won't do a very complete job.

Ah yes, I can hear the rhythmic slapping of the synthetic chamois as they grind the (removed) bonded contaminants from the last guy's car into your paint...

A Yelper reviewing the Mr. Clean Car Wash in Round Rock, TX wrote, "I was expecting the mr. Clean signature shine and the Mr. Clean shine machine and wax to completely pretty up my car. What I got was absolutely sub-par."

A YouTube video says there are 16 locations, with franchises available.

Yeah... I misread about how many locations. Apparently only 4 states currently have these Mr. Clean car washes...

I would imagine the 8 minute polish is a spray on polish/wax that takes place during the wash process

I looked over their website and am impressed with what I've seen. I wonder what the start up cost would be to open a franchise and would they lease the property from me?

So do you have room on the same property for "Flash's Detail Shop" so you can fix the cars and remove the 1,000 swirls from the "1,000-point soft cloth wash"? Sounds like a win-win for you.

As a matter of fact, I do.

Thanks!

Liquid capital and net worth isn't the same as credit. Requirements are pretty steep as compared to what you can get into other types of franchises for.

If I had that kind of money I wouldn't be interested in opening a car wash.

Anybody have any guesses as to what the 2-3 million investment would be for??? It says excluding land and site work... Sounds like a lot of money for a car wash site..

Got me. I'm going to run this by a friend that deals in these sort of things and see what she thinks. I'm sure those numbers have room for adjustments (or have 2 meanings). The car wash alone (not including land) would be over a million. I've never heard of a franchisee having to finance building their own store though

One thing is for certain. Their 'ace marketing team' is not doing a very good job if the only way you heard of this was through happenstance and a complaint

They should give you that job!

Have the top P&G executives been sniffing too much of those ever-present whiskey fumes down off I-75 South that runs through Cincy!!

Seems like everybody and their Brother is getting into the Car Wash/Detail/Quik Oil Change business nowadays.

Since P&G considered their dog food business to be rather a dog of a performer; then, perhaps, they used some of the ~$3Billion they got from Mars...(for selling-off, and then closing down their dog food brands/plants up in Lewisburg, Ohio)...to invest in this new service oriented business.
{Bet you guys won't get a separate dividend check for this transaction}

And...After all:
They can also save some big bucks by using some of their already existing chemicals for car-care products to be used at these facilities. ARF! ARF!

Bob

I had always thought P&G should try and re-enter the chemical side of the auto industry... It fits their portfolio... Much better than let's say coffee, chips, pet food and batteries....

And this has been in the works since 2010 it appears... I would guess this is something we don't spend a lot of time/resources on

In fact - - I wouldn't be surprised if they simply licensed the Mr. Clean name...
