Been a crazy month at work. Had to work a Saturday and Sunday. On top of massive overtime. Start my 10-day vacation today. AMEN. Time to regroup and recenter!

I've got a week off, 1 work from home day, and then 3 more days off. I usually have to spend some time working on things that have to be done for year-end even if I'm off. At least with WFH now, I can not waste vacation time and I don't have to drive into work.

Started my vacation last Sat…. Got sick Monday…. Starting to feel better but wasted the week in bed.

Glad you are feeling better. I was just going to post that I usually will get sick between holidays after pushing hard to the end of the year. Not every time but it wouldn't be a stretch to say 50% of the time.

The need for decompression is VITAL! I just found out Thursday during my 1-year check up after an incident in October '22 that I DID have a heart attack, when all this time I thought it was work-stress caused chest pain.

I was lucky (God was with me), that it was an "Attention getter"/"Wake up Call" type heart attack, in that NO DAMAGE occurred to my heart/vascular system. The Doctor who saw me Thursday was the same Dr that performed the Cardiac Catheter procedure a year ago and he confirmed that #1, there was NO damage and #2 The heart attack WAS CAUSED by the not just Toxic, but Lethal - work environment.

My Pastor believes it was God giving me the wake up call to get out of there, and it was the deciding factor in me going for a Stress-Disability Retirement. ALL of my medical doctors agree that if I would have stayed to finish out my last 6 months until I could "naturally" retire, I would have died before reaching that goal.

I think a lot more people NEED to realize that your job, is your JOB, IT IS NOT YOUR LIFE - or worth your life. Don't "save up" your vacation or PTO - USE IT!!! Put more effort into stress relief. If you don't, you may NOT live to regret it ... I almost didn't.

I agree with Don 100%, look after yourself, listen to your body, get your annual check ups, and do lots of sanity washes.

I was waiting for my new car to arrive before taking some leave, but that's gone out the window as Ford drag their heels, and I can't wait indefinitely. So I booked two weeks at the end of January on Christmas Eve. I have 420 hours / 56 days leave owning to me, I think I've earnt time off.

You're confusing me...I thought you had your own gardening business?

I work 4 days per week at a retail garden center/nursery, 2 days per week running my own business. One's a safety net, one is more profitable.

BACK TO WORK! The 10 days flew by. No complaints. It was a nice mental getaway from work.
