SG is pretty finicky about what it bonds to. I wouldn't expect it to bond to that sheeting polymer the Gold Class wash has in it unless you did some sort of wipedown beforehand, and even if it was bonding, that pink stuff probably took it right off.

Just for future reference, SG likes to go over a very clean surface (like IPA wiped), or use KAIO to prep. As far as the SG application, thin is in as you found, and of course it doesn't like to flash too well in the cold since it's water-based.
 
Nice work. it's fun working with friends. Well sometimes it is. Not only does the project go faster but you have some one to crack on in the good spirit of competition.

Well I clayed the car after washing it with Gold class if that helped.

Yeah them helping with cleaning wheels and vacuuming inside and wipe down helped a lot.

Good thing I brought 2 with me, I was about to just bring one hoping my friend had a few. lol

Depends what your clay lube was! Don't worry about it, that car is so much better off than it would have been going the rest of the winter without even a wash.
 
I used last touch 1:1.

So Gold class isn't a good soap if your planning on applying sealant? I never read this anywhere.

It's always a good idea to do an IPA wipedown before sealant application (or use KAIO before SG, which I think it recommends on the back of the SG bottle). Last Touch is a very greasy QD, IMO. And most shampoos have some sheeting agents or glossing agents which will leave something on the paint. I find the Meg's washes to do this more than some others, but they all do to some extent, especially if they dry on the surface, which is usually more of a problem in the hot weather, but maybe in the cold if you didn't rinse frequently or took longer because it was cold.

I was thinking the same thing. The car looks nice, I never heard of the product that you picture but will guess that it has lots of fillers to hide swirls.:xyxthumbs:

When I work in apartment communities like that I do it as inconspicuously as possible because it is just a matter of time before someone complains to management about the complete detail shop laying in the middle of the road. Just my 2 cents.

Here in the North you have to be tough and resourceful!

After some of the temps and weather we've had 40 degrees is a heatwave and a great time to get out there and do some needed maintenance on our vehicles. :props:

I like the way you spread out your equipment sort of setting up a permanent that allowed you to work without interference.

My guess is that someone has already made the call. I have never met an apartment management company that allows this type of work, but I have worked in many of these communities where no one calls because I was very orderly about things. Which = more $$$ for me.:props:

Thanks, my friend said he got it at an auto show. I guess it a small company.
Next time I will be more careful, I have never heard of any complaints from any management.

I wasn't trying to dis you for clutter...actually I thought it was cool...Slick you done a great job,most of us are newbs in a sort that we learn something new everyday! Thanks dad07. That was my first time I detailed someone car outside from my drive way.

So I just unloaded everything onto the floor lol. I was lucky that the spaces next to him were both gone.

I had a lot of room to work with and was happy that no car was harmed. :)

Next time it will be neater so I look more professional. :xyxthumbs:
