My daughter has a 2004 Altima, the paint is not great but I have polished it and Hydro2ed it so it looks better than Okay, except that I can see the muffler under the car and it sticks out like a sore thumb. It looks dirty and rusty and just not good in general, other than replacing the exhaust what do I do to improve the look of it, it does not have to look new just look better.

I've heard of painting them with hi-temp black paint so they "disappear" or at least don't catch your eye as much.

Black Primer

You are the only one who has ever noticed it

I appreciate your attention to detail though

They make some high temp paints that will convert the rust to a primer base and stick well. Really the best option depends how bad the rust is.

A muffler, what's that, LOL!

Rustoleum makes one they also make a gel you wipe on the rust and it converts it to primer base. Then paint with any high temp paint. All can be bought on Amazon.

0000 steel wool and APC to clean .... you can then paint or buy a tip and add it for a little flair.
